On a slightly less panties-focused note... though believe me, after 14 months in the desert surrounded by nothing but sausage, youd be amazed at the conversations that... um...nevermind.
Anyway. I'm a soldier stationed in Iraq, and our mission tempo wont allow me to compete, despite my intense desire to do so. Will this be the only RPG Superstar competition, or will there be other "seasons"? Bi-annual might be good, or maybe quarterly.
And please, no "Dancing with the RPG Designer" as a spin-off.
PLEASE.

I imagine it will depend on how this one turns out - and possibly what ends up happening with the whole "to 4E or not to 4E" thing.
Hey man, stay safe out there.

How about Britches of Stink Suppression?

We need a pair of those in our Pathfinder game

I got dibs on the Simon role :) Just kidding. I'm a kinder gentler demon prince these days...
I have to admit I am absolutely geeked to be involved with this. Its an awesome idea. Though I was pushing hard for calling it "Rockstar: D&D" :)
Clark
No, because then we'd all have to just re-hash everything thats been done before, and only be allowed to come up with one new item ourself. everything else would be "covers".

I'd totally love "Rockstar:D&D"
But to do "Rockstar:D&D" properly, you'd have to auditioning new RPG writers to join existing freelancers and designers on a big project, like a sourcebook or box set. You know, like auditioning contestants to fill that lead singer role with Queen, etc

Good question MWBEELER. It is kind of unclear, even in the rules listing.

Since Pathfinder flare is okay, what about a certain role playing games "Core World" flare? Is this prohibited?
Unless you're going into details I suspect it would only be various proper nouns that would present a problem -- I wonder if WotC would be so kind as to provide a list of Greyhawk proper nouns we're not allowed to use, preferably in the form of an MS Word "find & replace" macro! :)

Yeah that would be great!! However, this would present a problem. Not so much with creating a wonderous item. Although, a country/encounter would be more in depth if we could use the "Core World" and "Official Monsters" for background, depth, and overall anchoring our creations. Always easier to add to something familiar than to create from scratch.

You could always just anagramise the names into something else, so that (for example) "Drawmij" is turned into a silly name like "Jim Ward", or "half the names in GH" turns into "EGG or one of his kids" :)

Very true. LOL! I guess the whole EGG secret has been out for a while!I will see what I can do with the Core Worlds Pesky God of Elves....So since we are on the topic and I have grave yard hours even on my days off (I think I was turned in my younger life), have any cool ideas (without giving away your entry)for items?

Well my main crafter has been Berem Esperian, though few of his items would be suitable -- "Berem's Interesting Stones" had to be discontinued after he was sued on the grounds that they weren't; the "Berem's Notes" series ("Berem's notes for knowledge (arcana)", "Berem's notes for knowledge (the planes)", "Berem's notes for spellcraft", etc) are prohibited at all reputable magic academies; and the products of his "Berem's Boutique" clothing range were mainly geared towards the use of endure elements to permit young ladies of decolletage but not discernment to where skimpy clothes in mid-winter.

Well Since I brought it up, I guess I will be the first to give a "tantalizing" idea. The Tome of the Ultimate Physique (seriously). This items was originally created by the Priest of Kord (or lets see if I can do some of that anagramizing, as Callum suggetsed...Kord-dork....nah! Kord-Orin...still lacking appeal... Kord-Rodakra...maybe...)anyway the church of strength, athletes, gladiators, competition. After being shown the secret to physical perfection by their deity, the priest magically enscribed it upon sacred text of their church to be taught/read by their most devout worshippers to help them emulate their god's physical prowess.
Eventually, a number of copies found their way into the world via the great games. The tomes were given as prizes to those gladiators/athletes who became champions at the games. Of course, some of these tomes were stolen and the secret was copied by others who had the skill/power to create such items.
The Tome of the Ultimate Physique must be read and practiced for a period of 30 uninterupted days. At the end of the 30 days, the book disappears. The reader's strength, dexterity, constitution, and charisma are immediately raised by +2/+4/+6 (depending on the campaign's power level).

First off, I want to say thanks for this contest Paizo & Friends. Contests for my hobbies usually involve artwork and rarely (if ever) writing. So something like this gets the ol' brain juices flowing (ew).
Now, I do have a question in regards to the contest. Since the rules are limited to 3.5 OGL, can I assume all entries must be written from a generic setting standpoint?
