We have cyber mods, demon mods, shadow crafting and wondrous item limb replacements in Pathfinder so developers clearly think about these kinds of things. What i am curious about is how they will be handled in Starfinder. Clearly you are thinking about gene engineering for a benefit to the character, yes? You dont need complex rules for cloning a new liver or replacing a arm that was eaten on the last away mission. So then, do you handle biotech improvements as items against your WBL, feats eating into that oh so limited pool of resources, templates to be applied if the GM is willing to wade into that territory or maybe its a specialized class or prestige class of some kind?
I like Dragon78's proposal of alternate racial mods and traits but if you are looking for something more extreme than i would most likely guess it is a prestige class to develop experimental or illegal gene mods for poisoned claws and regeneration or the like.

I imagine it'd be specialised slotless equipment like cybernetics.
