Small Vs. Small AC Question

Rules Questions

The Exchange

Hi Paizo people,
I've read through the Core Rulebook and Bestiaries, and I immediately noticed that Small creatures get a +1 size bonus to their AC.
Great.
But what if two Small-sized creatures came into combat against each other? Do they keep their AC bonus? If so, why? It's the same as two humans fighting each other, right? And shouldn't a Small-sized creature lose its AC bonus against a Tiny-sized creature because the Small-sized creature is so much bigger than the Tiny-sized creature?

Small creatures also get a +1 size bonus to hit. You'll notice that a +1 size bonus to ac, and a +1 size bonus to hit effectively cancel each other out; no need to change the character sheet, it's all factored into the equation already. :) Hope that helps.

To elaborate on what Trekkie wrote, every size modifier to AC is the same as the size modifier to hit.

That means that the modifiers for combatants of the same size balance each other out.

Thanks, I forgot.
But what about Small vs. Tiny, and Tiny vs. Diminutive, and Diminutive vs. Fine?

Additionally, Tiny creatures get a bigger bonus than Small creatures, Diminutive get a bigger one than Tiny creatures and so on, meaning that the Small creature is actually much easier to hit. So, what you're asking for is actually already in the game. A Tiny creature is much better at hitting a Small creature than the other way around.
