Advice for a ninja maid

3 people marked this as a favorite.

So I'm designing a character for an intentionally silly game. I'm going back and forth between a battle maid and a battle teacher.

Both have basically the same build, but with obviously different flavor.

Human Unchained Rogue (Snoop Archetype)

H-Enforcer
1-Bludgeoner
1R-Weapon Finesse
3-Extra Rogue Talent Shadows of Fear

Rogue Talent:
2- Underworld inspiration (via snoop archetype)

General idea is that the maid is nice, sweet, and subservient until someone messes with those she cares about. Then she goes mildly ballistic. She deals non-lethal so enforcer lets her get free intimidates off ('cause it's a silly anime trope for some maids to be scary)
Then shadows of fear lets her sneak attack scares foes.

Only question left for the maid in question:
What weapon? It doesn't have to be a REAL Pathfinder approved weapon.
Only reason teacher was even mentioned is that I can't think of anything more awesome than a magical ruler to discipline with.
Help with a silly blunt instrument of Maidly Doom?

Sometimes a maid is required to Ahem, clear a clogged drain (I know, that's a stretch), but a heavy toilet plunger might work

Oh, oh, oh, can you make the character an Android, and call her "Rosie"?

Personally I'd go for a quarterstaff-broom. Or TWF with dusters.

Frying pan is a classic.

Sovereign Court

I know it is not a answer to your specific question, but I think the Gonzo 2 book (3rd party really good can't remember publisher) has a weapons chart for butler and maid accoutrements to go with their Battlebutler class.

Sovereign Court

Just check publisher is Little Red Goblin Games

This makes me think of Roberta from Black Lagoon.
Parasol would be a fun one (can even do some fun cover stuff with it if you can swing a Weapon Trick), Broom and the classic Frying Pan.

Heck, why not just use the Makeshift Scrapper Rogue and grab whatever is feasible from your bag of tricks or the environment?

I think she should have a Gaze Attack [1d6 Fire (Ref DC 11 halves)] - For Dust Bunnies.

Broom is definitely the classic option. Try the Rough and Ready trait for extra flavor.

If you don't want to go broom, other blunt objects that work include: Rolling Pin, Mop, Bucket, Iron, Washboard, Rake, etc

Ye olde Duster is thematically right, but its hard to believe that you could even do non-lethal damage with one.

Battle Maids are always a fun idea for any campaign! Follow the rest of the party while looking like an NPC hireling then smack around anyone who thinks you're a non-combatant.

Currently I'm playing a Maid in an on/off Gestalt campaign (Ninja/Eldritch Scion Magus focused on improvised weapons). What I've pulled out as weapons so far have been a broom, mop, frying pan, feather duster, and a cleaning bucket. Also, due the GM seeming to love creatures with various types of DR, I've made my new frying pan out of cold iron, got the handle of my feather duster made out of silver, and am looking into various cutlery to vary damage types other than Bludgeoning.

Some other silly maid bludgeoning ideas; a filled sack (servants expected to carry everything), serving tray, tea kettle.

First off, I <3 you all for the fantastic support and suggestions.
Seriously, I love the Paizo forum community. Usually. The rules forums can be a bit touchy, but I love rules more than life itself. Not THEIR rules mind you, just rules period.

Secondly, I'm really leaning towards feather duster (Thanks Squiggit!) simply because it feels the most maid-like. Rolling pin is another consideration; thanks Cellion!
If I do another intimidate-themed lady it'll DEFINITELY be with a parasol. Because it's fantastic.
I'll absolutely look into all the 3rd party recommendations when I get home. Work internet doesn't like the d20pfsrd. By the by, anything 3rd party goes for this.

Well, too bad you cant give her Time Stop... But if you go heavy into slight of hand and just stack yourself with a lot of throwing daggers you could go with the way of Sakuya from the Touhou series. ( Basically a Maid which main battle plan is to stop time and fill everything with daggers )

I'see her in this way...

4lv bard GEISHA + Archeologist

2lv Ninja

Then... Arcane Trickster 10!

She is a maid, she is a ninja.. she is both and IMHO a usefoul and strong character to... (use tons of charm spells)

I'll be honest, the title instantly made me think of this.

Considering I'm about 15 levels into a conquest game, that's totally fair Sideromancer.
As it is, I don't fancy her a magic user, though.

You may want to look at picking up Catch Off Guard. It not only lets you use improvised weapons without penalty it also makes an unarmed foe flat footed when doing so. This would allow you to use mops, brooms, frying pans, etc. as weapons and get your sneak attack vs unarmed opponents.

Scarab Sages

Iron Brush seems like a good option. Just reflavor the bristles as a duster.
