What? The movie was thoroughly okay. A few amazing scenes, some interesting characterization, but nothing stellar.
Out of curiosity, what are your favorite comic films?

oh man. I don't know if I have favorites. There are movies I could stand to see again, like the original Blade. I know what I hate, moreso, and I hate me some whedon. As shown above.

Your blind hatred is the one constant in this shifting landscape of errata. :)

Liberty's Edge

Well, Civil War did get me jazzed to see Spider-Man and The Black Panther.

It also made me think a bit about representation and defaults in media with the post credit scene.

I'm not sure of the internet hate over the Banner/Romanov scenes in Age of Ultron would allow that to happen.

If it helps Freehold, the article also reports that Marvel is "considering" a Captain Marvel solo movie, even though that's been announced well over a year ago when they also announced Black Panther. I know, because I threw a conniption when CM got bumped back by the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man re-reboot. (Hopefully, Danvers will debut in Infinity War I like the Russo Brothers teased... or I will be angry yet again.)

Why is there hate?

It's the internet.

There is always hate.

That was pretty callous, Jack.

I just saw an article that Joss Wheadon would consider doing an all-female avengers movie for Marvel. Nothing like that has been announced, but for Joss they might find a way to make it happen....

For Freehold DM's sake, we can only hope that this happens, and soon.

Are there enough potential Avengers for that? Black Widow, Scarlet Witch and Sif, from the movies. Wasp (at least one, if not two!) and Valkyrie coming up in the movies (and Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, eventually). Jessica Jones (and maybe Trish Walker/Hellcat and / or Misty Knight & Colleen Wing?) from Netflix. Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird, DaisyQuake and / or Melinda May from Agents of SHIELD. I suppose it could be done!

Still wouldn't seeing some Monica Rambeau, She-Hulk, Tigra and / or Moondragon!

Some people interpreted the Banner/Romanov scenes as Natasha claiming that she was a monster for the sole reason of not being able to have children.

I saw Banner claiming to be a monster first, and brought up not being able to have kids (presumably because they would inherit being green rage monsters - not a good thing in the terrible twos). Natasha brings up being sterilized to counter Bruce's worry, and then because of the look on his face explains why. And then mentioned that she was monster as well, after alluding to her body count.

But once the internet gets an idea in it's collective heads there is often no reasoning.

I can certainly hope for no Moondragon. Never liked that character and her superiority complex.

I assumed the lack of kids was due to the real risk of hulking out if um...things got to intimate between Banner and Widow.

Freehold will fight this with every iota of his being.

While I'm not anti-Whedon, there are plenty of directors that could do a great job on the Captain Marvel, hypothetical Black Widow, or other women-at-the-forefront MCU movie. Heck, some of them are actual women!

Whedon, you've already done two MCU movies and helped shape the MCU. Don't be greedy. Let others have a shot at it.

There is one VERY IMPORTANT reason for having Joss Whedon direct another Marvel movie. ;p

I 100% agree with that reason.

Poor Freehold DM. He gets no love. ~kicks him while he is down~

Scarab Sages

Keeping this here since X6: Apoopcalypse was a bomb.

Cap finally officially broke the Deadpool lead over the long weekend, adding 19M, and bringing his to date total up to 377M v Deadpool's 362M. Deadpool also finally played on 0 screens this weekend after a solid 15 weeks playing. BvS pulled in a paltry 310K this weekend over 350 screens, totaling 328M. I figure this is its last weekend it plays, with two weeks in a row of less than 1000 per screen, its kinda poopy.

Internationally, Captain has officially topped the 1B marker.

X6, as I alluded, was a huge bomb, bringing in a generously rounded up estimated 80M. Its three day total lead to the 26th best (unadjusted) comic book opening, far behind the other three releases of the year, which were all top 10 all time. Humorously enough, the movie at #27 is none other than this year's leader Captain America, in his first outing. Also, as a shock to X-Fan myself, this was the 4th best of the Six main X-Films, finishing above First Class and X-Men. As far as overall gross goes, X6: Apocalypse, still needs 50M to get above The Wolverine to not be the lowest grossing X-Film.

Fun Math: If you add Deadpool and Captain America's overall numbers together, you exceed the domestic grosses of all 9 X-Films combined (Deadpool Inclusive).
