Badasses of History: Teddy Roosevelt

Conversions

Last month, when I posted my Abraham Lincoln conversion, there was an overwhelming request from pretty much everyone who saw it for me to make President Roosevelt the next on my list. So, here you go! By popular demand, the Bull Moose himself, President Theodore Roosevelt!

An interesting series, how about Christopher Lee? A bit more recent, but certain,y a badass.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Mr. Lee holds a very special place in my heart. I put an article together about him several years ago titled True Facts About Christopher Lee that would serve as a handy base.

Certainly not out of the question, but not likely to come up for a little longer.

Unless you're trying to avoid people most famous for military exploits Andrew Jackson, Ulysses Grant, and George Washington are obvious choices to continue the Presidents theme. Oliver Cromwell is similar but obviously had a different title in a different nation.

Commissar Jackson is definitely on the list, Atarlost. So is George, and the drunken Ulysses. Got a few famous pirates on the list, along with an infamous mercenary or two, as well. It's pretty open at the moment, and I don't have a set number of historical badasses that I'm setting the top at. Essentially, as long as people keep reading them, and saying, "yeah, that was cool, do more!" then I'll probably keep it going.

John Smith, of Jamestown colony fame, was a real badass, too. Earlier in his life, he was a mercenary, fighting in the east. The Turkish armies had a tradition (which was shared by other cultures of the region at the time) when, before each battle, both armies would choose three fighters. The fighters would fight each other in a series of 1-on-1 fights (3 of them). Whichever side won more fights, was fated to win the battle (basically a big morale boost/drain). In one fight, the Turkish forces chose 3 princes. The western side chose . . . John Smith. He won all three 1-on-1 fights with the princes.

So noted, KahnyaGnorc... Mr. Smith is now on my list of future folks to research.

"Ideally, you'll want his biggest attributes in his physical stats, and you'll want wisdom, charisma, and intelligence in that order."

I don't know if I'd say you should put intelligence as his dump/last stat.

Teddy Roosevelt was no dummy.

Teddy Roosevelt has 18s for dump stats.

THEODORE Roosevelt.

The diminutive 'Teddy' was used by his opponents to belittle the man.

It had mixed results.

If you start Theodore off, you're going to start with a diminished CON (nothing better than 10, I would imagine) because his health was poor growing up and didn't improve until he became an adult after years of hiking, boxing, and working out.

If there were a 'dump stat' or two, it'd probably be Wisdom (going to a speech after getting shot is sure ballsy, but not very wise) and then maybe Constitution (even with workout regimen) and not by much.

To answer the points on dump stats.

When you begin playing the character, he's going to be an adult, with much of his training complete, and skills acquired. So, at that point, his con should reflect that he's a professional cattle rancher, soldier, etc.

Regarding his intelligence, a "dump" stat shouldn't go lower than 10 if you can avoid it. But, since we can't choose our stats all the time, you then have to assign based on practicality, and what you're going to need most. If it ends up being lower than you want, bump it up with your level boosts.
