Hi all!
This is an attempt to find two replacement players for an ongoing game. Our original recruitment thread is here.
I'll go over the basics here, but we are looking for a divine full caster and a skill-based character (preferably with rogue-like skills) with at least one of the two having social skills. It is also important to us that people fit in with the party dynamic, so please read through our game thread here when crafting your character.
Without further ado:
Premise:
Queen Abrogail II has put out a call for groups of heroes that will proudly travel Cheliax and the surrounding lands helping to promote stability and address local (and greater) issues. While the PCs don't know this, it is the intent of the Queen to eventually retake Traitorous Sargava and show the world that Cheliax is once again at the height of its power. In order to accomplish this goal, she has decided to use these groups of heroes to increase public trust and patriotism as well as solidifying alliances with other nations and, through challenges, strengthen the groups and determine which one will rise to the top.
Creation Guidelines:
No third party products of any kind will be considered.
- Attributes: 25 point buy.
- Races: Any up to 15 RP.
- Classes: Any except the following: Antipaladin, Spiritualist, Summoner. Paladins, while permitted, are likely to be a hard sell.
- Alignments: Any non-chaotic.
- Traits: Three traits, one of which must be a Cheliax regional trait or a trait from Cheliax, Empire of Devils (or an appropriate Cheliax-based trait from other paizo material). No drawbacks.
- Starting Level: First.
- Starting Gold: Max.
- Starting HP: Max. Subsequent levels will be average.
Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 27, 2016, 11:59PM eastern time.

Been itching to try a PbP out so I'm gonna give it a shot. I have a Kitsune Trickster character I'm gonna adapt and put up here. She was an orphan, living on the streets and stealing to survive. She eventually grew to be very diplomatic, using social skills to get others to give her what she wants, though she is not beyond resorting to the old ways if this does not work.

DM Morvius |

To answer the questions so far:
Unchained classes (including Rogues) are fine. I would caution though that the in character goal here isn't to combat evil. At least not necessarily. The Queen is LE and intends to stay that way and the PCs, at least indirectly, work for the Queen. There is likely to be fighting of CE beings however.
Asmodeans are certainly welcome. It is the state religion after all.

The Norv |

Hey guys! I'm interested in this game and curious (just read the whole Gameplay) but I have a few questions...mostly for the GM, but maybe the others can answer as well...
1. As far as a divine character goes, are you looking mostly for someone who can provide the party with healing? Or a wider-utility caster?
2. Do you see the pace of this game picking up at all? I'm intrigued (I love being part of people's homebrew games), and I'm not a post-four-times-daily kind of guy, but my experience has been that if a game isn't having significant updates at least every other day, it's more likely than not to die. This isn't even so much because of players losing interest, etc., as much as the fact that it becomes hard to remember, over PbP, what's going on, what clues have been dropped, etc. Not a criticism--if this pace is working for you guys, great!--but I'd love to know if you see it picking up steam in the future.

Rona'Nathaniel Gassan |

The Norv : I can try to answer for myself, but obviously I don't have the answers for everyone.
1 : I think a person who can heal would be best, but I think the utility caster would be nice as it could definitely enhance the gameplay a bit more as well as help bring some new solutions to the game.
2 : I know that Baolus and I are posting as much as we can, the pace has been something that is a worry. We started with 5 players and down to 2 makes things difficult. We are both hoping that getting a couple of players who are able to post as frequently as us will revive the game and help it flourish into the amazing game that we both see it could be.

Ihon Volarian |

Another of the players here!
1. We have plenty of ways to heal in-combat and any divine caster can add to that. (At least in any way that should be necessary). I'd suggest broadening out from there. Being able to remove negative effects would be far more useful than healing hit points.
2. As for posting, it should pick up again. At least with any luck!

About the pace of the game, I feel that it should definitely pick up if we find enough interested players...
In PBP when a PC 'vanishes' it could happen in two ways IMO:
1) The player simply disappears without a notice. This happened to one of our players. In the beginning, since it was just him, we decided to keep going and it was working fine but then the second way happened.
2) The player starts to post once a week, then once in two weeks than once in a whole month. The player is not gone yet and you still have hope that he'll return. This happened to the other player (and probably the third also).
When we noticed we were playing with just the half of our party and since one of the 'vanished' players could return at any moment, we were kind of slowing it down. Right now we decided to formerly recruit two more players so we can pick up steam once more.

The Norv |

Ok! I think I will try to work something up, though I'm still torn between the skills role and the divine...do you all have feelings on people submitting multiple characters? I can pick if I have to, but I have fun ideas for both.
I really like the idea of getting to play in someone's own homebrewed campaign; as someone who's seen, read, or played (or is playing) in many of Paizo's APs, I love not knowing where things will go. :)

DM Morvius |

To add the GM note (and I'll say the input of my current players is important too!):
I think any divine caster that can provide utility should do well. When dwarves aren't critting on literally every attack against the party, buffs, status cleansers, and debuffs will likely be more critical.
And as for the pace of the game, I do hope to bring it back up to one post per day. I enjoy a brisk pace and think with our two new recruits that it is very realistic to return to that posting consistency.

After sleeping on it, I think I am going to build an archaeologist bard for the skill role. It appears that melee will be covered well, so I will make her an archer. She will also be able to cover the social and roguish skills while using spellcasting to aid in buffing the party as well as to provide some crowd control.
I see that Baolus has DD (urban ranger). Do you want the skills player to also have trap finding and disable device? If not, I could change the archetype to be better at other things. What specific roguish skills do the current players feel are most needed? Either way, I loved the gameplay thread and I am excited to have the opportunity to apply! ~Jules

Rona'Nathaniel Gassan |

I think having someone who can both find and disarm traps would be extremely useful, but we could just avoid the traps once they have been found in most cases. As for skills, I am a big fan of Sleight of Hand personally, it can be used in many situations to help out. I think I am the only one without any Stealth ranks, but I have Acrobatics.
I will say this to most people in case they wish to try and use my character as a hook point , Rona has a reputation of being completely against bribes and will never take one, nor will he shirk his duty to the law. Does mean if he finds you guilty you shall be watched extremely carefully until you can be put on trial, but other than that he is fine.

Vornop |

Submitting Idroval Silvess, Chelaxian Investigator, patriot, and loyal subject of House Thrune.
As I was working on him, I had a thought; what if I accidentally paste into the wrong alias? I would be in a pickle then, so I decided to save my other characters in proper format...and of course, in doing so, pasted this guy over top of a much-more complicated character sheet...real headdesk moment.
That being said, his backstory/appearance and personality sections are empty. I'll update them in a few hours, but now I need a break after that wonderful mistake. I'll give you a brief spoiler of what will come.
He is as cocky and arrogant as any of his kind. His ancestor was a fey creature; this led to his House falling out of prominence even before the Thrune government seized power. They had since served as artisans, merchants, and craftspeople; their diminished status lent few ears to their voices of the regime change, and, for their part, they kept quiet, content to build power under whichever government took control. House Thrune thus took little notice of them.
From a young age, Idroval showed extraordinary powers of perception and a knack with nearly any subject that came his way. Through a long series of events I have planned but presently lack the motivation to prose, he discovered his family secretly plotting against the Thrune government; doctoring their books to allot himself some small amount of wealth, he turned them all in to the Hellknights. His loyalty was rewarded by allowing him to remain free while his family was imprisoned, or worse; he now seeks his own lot in life, eager to promote the ideals of Thrune and secure for himself a position of comfort, if not overt power.

TheWaskally |

DM Morvius, I wish to introduce you to Deacon Archibald Brimstone, a tiefling cleric of Asmodeus whom wishes to prove his worth to House Thrune, and all of Cheliax.

The Norv |

Here's my submission: Andre Karoxin, a cleric of Erastil. Since I'm trying to avoid cluttering up my list of aliases, I'll wait until selected (or not) to make a full alias for him, if that's alright.

RACE
Bonus Feat
Heart of the Wilderness: Thanks to his extensive time in the wilderness, and being raised in a small village in the middle of nowhere, Andre gains a bonus to Survival checks equal to half his character level (0); a +5 racial bonus to Constitution checks to stabilize when he's dying; and adds 1/2 his character level (0) to his Constitution score when determining the number of negative hit points needed to kill him.
TRAIT
Deadeye Bowman (religion): Andre's a crack shot, practicing fervently with his deity's favored weapon. When attacking with a longbow, if there is only one creature between him and his target, the target does not gain the usual +4 bonus to AC for soft cover.
Diabolist Raised (campaign): While he may not be a diabolist, strictly speaking, himself, Andre was raised in Cheliax and has a healthy respect for the importance of order and the structure that Hell provides the nation. He gains a +1 bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks against Chelaxian nobility, and a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against mindaffecting attacks by devils.
Bully: For all that he serves a good god, there's a part of Andre that's little more than a pushy, conservative, hidebound bully who thinks he knows what's best for everyone. He gains a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks, and Intimidate is a class skill for him.
CLASS
Aura: Andre has a lawful good aura appropriate for a cleric of his level.
Channel Energy: 5 times per day, Andre can channel positive energy in a 30' radius to heal living creatures or harm undead for 1d6 points of damage. Undead or unwilling creatures can make a Will Save (DC 12) to halve this damage.
Spontaneous Casting: At any point, Andre can sacrifice one of his spell slots to cast a cure spell of that level or lower.
Domains: Community (Family) and Plant (Growth)
Binding Ties: As a standard action, 7 times/day, Andre can touch one of his companions to remove one condition affecting the ally by transferring it to himself. This transfer lasts a number of rounds equal to his cleric level, but he can end it as a free action on his turn. At the end of this effect, the condition reverts to the original creature, unless it has ended or is removed by another effect. While this power is in use, the target is immune to the transferred condition.
Enlarge: As a swift action, Andre can enlarge himself for one round, as if he were the target of an enlarge person spell. He can use this ability 7 times/day.
FEAT
Channel Smite: Before making a melee attack roll, Andre can expend one use of his channel energy ability to add that channel's damage dice to the weapon attack's damage.
Guided Hand: When using his deity's favored weapon (the longbow), Andre makes attack rolls using his Wisdom modifier rather than his Strength of Dexterity.
SPELLS
Knacks (3/day, DC 14):
1-level (2+1 domain/day, DC 15):
Some notes: the "Diabolist Raised" trait is from the Council of Thieves player's guide; is it ok to use that? Also, I really like the idea of Andre being a little on the older side (say, in his 40s); it helps with the hidebound, conservative vibe and it makes more sense for his grandfather, for example, to have fought in the civil war in that case. However, I haven't calculated his stats with the aging adjustments added; if you'd like me to use those, I'll likely rejigger his ability scores slightly.
Thanks for the consideration! If you'd be open to a second character, I've also been toying around with the idea of a louche, disaffected noble who's trying to get back in good with the aristocracy...

DM Morvius |

Norv, I'm fine with that trait. I would encourage you to stick to a single submission but if you want to swap you have until the deadline to do so.
As for everyone else, I'm glad to see submissions so far! There's still time to get characters in however so don't be daunted and feel free to toss in a submission if you find the game intriguing.

DM Morvius |

Morvius, how are you swaying on the Vigilante question?
Sorry for not responding earlier.
I'm going to say that for now you'll need to be of a class that isn't from the unreleased (or at least currently unreleased via pdf) book. If that's a class you want to take later, I'm pretty sure I'll buy the pdf within a couple of weeks and taking levels in any (then) released class is fine by me.

Rona'Nathaniel Gassan |

TheWaskally, if you look carefully you will realise only Rona is Good, the others are both Lawful Neutral. So it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I keep on thinking they are good too, until I look at their profiles again.
If that came across as insulting or patronising, I apologise as it was not meant that way at all.

DM Morvius |

Talking to my players there is a clear majority of support for Andre on the divine side. So Andre, feel free to report to our discussion thread here.
The skill based character has a little more argument. I'm going to re-re-open recruitment and consideration through this Friday at 11:59PM eastern time to give people a chance to re-evaluate or otherwise think things through. If any applicants want to change or if anyone wants a new submission, I'll say that something evil would be handy for our party.

GM Nostrus |

After having some thought about it, I would amend my character submission to a Bard with the Chelish Diva archetype.
Couple of questions; are you okay to handwave the 1,000 person requirement for Chelish Diva so I can use Longacre (currently 1,508 souls)? If not, can we have it that she's famous in a section of Longacre?
Second, are you okay with her having a hireling to carry her gear?

Vornop |

Allow me to re-present Idroval Silvess, Chelaxian Slayer!
Essentially the same character, but retuned to have a more wicked tint. In this incarnation, he kills his family rather than turning them in, and I'll actually have his backstory up in time this go around! His equipment's not quite finished yet, but I'm down to mostly mundane gear at this point.
Swapped out his "Improvisation" feat for Two-Weapon Fighting, making him more than just the skill monkey he was built as previously, and also changed his SLAs to be more in line with his new occupation.
The cleaner archetype's real mechanical benefits don't come until 4th level, so I'm fluffing him as a "cleaner-in-training" until he gets the key class ability. Likewise his Trapfinding won't come until 2nd level now, but thanks to the talent, will be just as good as a rogue once he gets it.

inxpitter |

If you're still looking for submissions, may I present Sazu Magauge.
Sazu is as colorful as any other gnome you may come upon. His grey hair is usually tied back and has streaks of blue, purple, and green. His pack is laden with tomes of self-written material, and a mess of loose paper with notes and sketches. Below his pack, he keeps his fiddle case where his instrument is stored for the majority of his travels. While somewhat absentminded, you'll usually find him with journal in one hand and one of him many writing utensils in the other.
From an early age, Sazu was raised in a small tavern with his single mother watching over him. To pass the time he helped serve customers and listened to their tales and stories of what was happening across the land. At first, he was fascinated with the tales of heroism and exciting battles, but returning to his room at night he thought about what he had heard.
"No one's learning from their mistakes...they just keep grasping for power."
Since he came upon this realization, Sazu has made it his mission to catalogue and collect as much information about Cheliax in hopes that his efforts can prevent such great conflict in the future and teach the youth of the next generation all he has learned.
Sazu is not one to let emotion distract him, it is his interests in information that will lead him down a side alley absentmindedly. He is very intellectual, though lacks some social grace often giving information when requested regardless of social cues or future ramifications. As for where he personally stands on issues, Sazu tends to lean to more peaceful solutions but understands that isn't ideal at times.
Above all, he prioritizes knowledge. If you burn a book in front of him, he may throw himself at you in a rage though it would be the stupidest thing he could possibly do.

Brenna Henoi |

Deepest apologies, I've only just realised that I didn't re-post with the Chelish Diva.
Brenna's life took another path, however. As a child, one of the local theatre owners overheard her singing and was immediately struck by the clarity of her voice. He spoke with Brenna's parents and sponsored her entry into one of the operatic schools in Egorian. She spent several years there, learning various forms of opera and also how to become a socialite. Behind the scenes, agents of the Thrice-Damned House were impressed by her rising star and she was recruited into their service as an informant; the performing arts often gave opponents to the Thrice-Damned House an easy way to move throughout Cheliax and although they had various informants within the entertainment scene, it wouldn't hurt to have one more.
For her part, Brenna revelled in her role. She was able to do two things that she loved; serve Asmodeus and the Thrice-Damned House, and sing!
She recognises, however, that increasingly Longacre is becoming a hotbed of dissident action and that she can do more than merely inform. To that end, she made it clear to her handlers that she wanted to undertake more dangerous missions. It took several months, but finally, the call has come down the line. Brenna cannot wait.
All of this is a ruse, carefully crafted over several years. In truth, she is an agent of the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune and wears her exterior persona like a cloak, that she drops once she's in private.
Years of duplicity have made her slightly paranoid and distrustful of new people. Once she gets to know them, if their interests align with her own, she'll fight to defend them. If their interests lie elsewhere... well, Asmodeus always has need of more souls.

DM Morvius |

I apologize for the selection delay, but I wanted to give all of my players the chance to share their opinions with me.
Without further ado, we're going to select Sazu Magauge for our last spot. Thanks to all of the applicants and Sazu feel free to check in at our discussion thread here.
