Yesterday wife was driving daughter to her math tutor session (yes, over the summer. It's that bad) and the @$$hat in the next lane was driving in both lanes. So my wife swerved to side to not get hit, and ran into curb. Hard. bent the STEEL RIM of her tire.
So, repair rim, + new tire,...
Sheesh. It never ends. ;P

Hope your axle wasn't damaged too, Rags. Yikes. At least nobody was hurt.
And no ouchies about fingers. That's the point of pinning it - so it stops flopping around and hurting. It feels much better! Really!

It's a really expensive paperclip dispenser. Hurts like heck when I need a paperclip, too. But my office efficiency is tripled!

Driving home tonight, I passed a bank time/temp sign that read "155°F". The air felt really comfortable. Guess I'm adapting to this global warming stuff better than expected.
If the temp is 155 deg I better be in a sauna sheeesh.

Another gorgeous day on the overpriced sandbar. Time to scout out a tourist-free walking area and let my dogs explore for a bit. Then a few chores and time to pick up my check! :D
Another day with 5 1/2 hours sleep too. I feel great, I woke up on my own, and I even lazed in bed for an extra hour to see if I needed any extra sleep. Nope. It still kind of weirds me out. Has it always been like this? I guess I had no method of measuring it and just assumed I was getting eight in
And just got a call to run some kids home in the afternoon! #winning

Why does an inhabited barrier island have such crappy drainage? Also, if drainage is such a recurrent problem, especially when said island is subject to regular thunderstorms and frequent tropical storms/hurricanes, why don't said inhabitants do something(s) to improve the drainage? Yes, living in stilt homes helps those particular inhabitants, but what do you do when most of the roads are underwater/washing away and the septic fields & sewer systems are both too waterlogged to operate properly? Knowing all this, why doesn't everyone drive Subarus and other AWD vehicles? I miss my Subaru. [/Rant]The real question is why anybody still lives in Florida.

When you do, if you find a cocoon, don't tell anyone else, they'll just be selfish dicks, and then you'll have to leave earth... on second thought... leaving earth does sound pretty good right now...

The bad news? it bent a STEEL rim!The good news? It is a steel rim, so much cheaper/easier to hammer back into shape.
Didn't even THINK about the axle! <Facepalm> And I'm not mentioning that to the Wizard's wife! Cuz she's a worry-wort, and I am NOT giving her something else to stress over! (Besides, I can't afford a new axle anyway, so moot point!) ;)
I drove her car after replacing the repaired rim/new tire. It seems fine. Didn't notice any alignment trouble. (I stopped the car at a stop light with my hands not holding the wheel. Smooth stop, no twists of the wheel, and it's not a perfectly level road!) :)

Well, a day of strange things. I had a good day up until my daughter called and told me my first wife had suddenly passed away at the age of 42. :/
I don't really feel grief. Our relationship was long ago over. I hadn't talked to her in over a decade, but it's just a weird feeling. I guess one part of getting older is seeing people around you die. part of the cycle.
Anyway, a good reminder that the future is never a guarantee. Go out there and enjoy. Tomorrow might be too late.
Friends left some lentil. I am leaving it soaking in water for a night and will try to make something out of it tomorrow.
