How to pbp map an underwater combat

Online Campaigns General Discussion

My campaign has gone underwater and since I generally map the fights, I was wondering if there is any tools or such to map out the 3d element of the fight.

Thanks

Group Minecraft server? Only half joking.

behold, 2 mermaids fighting in 3d water. Season with scale to taste...

That looks quite complicated. I would just have a normal 2d map with a number next to each counter that represents their depth below sea level. This can either be in feet or five foot increments.

I use the same principal for aerial battles but in reverse.

I like Nixie's but the situation gets dicey because, the heavy vortexy current has pushed the pcs away from each other.

I would go with the same method as The Sword. Put a counter next to or onto each creature's piece that displays its elevation/depth by feet or "squares" (cubes rather)

I added a whirlpool...now it looks SUPER COMPLICATED haha!

this is a situation I would totally go with Theatre of the Mind.

I made several maps of a sunken ship, one was above the other.
you could just make a map for several elevations and have points of reference such as an anchor chain, the edge of the lake, or a nearby island.

I am currently trying to upload all the rooms of The Cleaves to my Photobucket accout. If I can find the ship I will scan it and upload it. Once you have a file on photobucket, you can pin it on Pintrest.
