TWF and combat maneuvers like disarm or trip

Rules Questions

If I were Two Weapon Fighting with a Battle Ladder (that has the trip property), can I do two trip attacks instead of two melee attacks? Or if I were TWF with a gnome hooked hammer, could I make one hammer attack, and one trip attack with the hook, as a full-round action?

Yes. You are allowed to use certain combat maneuvers in place of melee attacks. Trip is one such maneuver.

Yes to gnome hooked hammer, most likely no to the battle ladder. Battle ladder is a two-handed weapon without the double property, you can't two weapon fight with just one and you'd need four arms to wield 2 at once (or some way to hold them in one hand).

I do not believe he ever suggested he was fighting with two separate battle ladders, but rather using a single one as a double weapon which is completely allowed for two-weapon fighting.

...except that a battle ladder is not a double weapon. It's a trip weapon, and that's it. So you can't use it as a double weapon. Unless there was an errata I missed.

Edit: So... I think it's supposed to inherit all the properties of a quarterstaff? It has two damages. But, again, the only property it is explicitly given is "trip".

Edit: Ah yes, I thought I was right. Thanks Casual Viking.

The Battle Ladder is a double weapon. The weapon table lists two damage values separated by a slash, a notation used only for double weapons. However, the weapon is not listed as having the Double quality. One of those is an error. What do? Reading the weapon description makes it clear that the "damage" column is correct, and thus the "special" column is in error. The battle ladder is a double weapon.
