Jon, The Evil DM |

Hello, one and all, to another one of my recruitment threads! I've recently had a number of characters drop from my game for personal reasons, and another member of the party will be switching characters. I'm looking for two characters for this game at the moment, with the details for character generation posted below.
--Background Skills
--Combat Stamina
--Disease/Poison Trackers
--Removing Iterative Attacks
--Wound Thresholds
--You may use the higher of your STR or DEX for attack and damage rolls with finesse weapons, without a feat. You can also add DEX to your damage rolls with ranged weapons.
--Endurance now works as it does in Unchained, under the Wound Threshold entry. Diehard now allows you to ignore wound penalties for a number of rounds equal to your Constitution modifier, but after this expires, you are fatigued.
--Combat Expertise is NOT required for Improved ______. I have eliminated some other feat taxes, though none of them SHOULD come up in character creation. If I spot any perusing your entries, I will let you know.
Read the Kingmaker Player's Guide, and have at least a passable knowledge of Golarion.
Now then, onto the the really important part. This game has THREE front-line characters, and so I will not accept any applications built as such. I have two slots left, and I am looking for any combination of the following:
I know there's a rather large Kingmaker recruitment going on at the moment, and I have no problem if you apply here with the same character and have to withdraw if you get picked in that recruitment. I'll have a link to the Gameplay thread below, and the remaining players will be looking over your applications as well.

I am interested and actually like your set of house rules. I could go Ranger or Arcane. Any preference? And what is starting gold?
Average for the class. You could always take the best of both worlds and make a Myrmidarch Magus. Touch spell arrows could be a major pain for baddies. >:)
I've actually got a character I've been wanting to try for a while (a kobold blight druid with the radiation subdomain, very debuff and status oriented with healing thrown in for good measure), but I've got a couple questions that could do with some clarification. I'm planning on taking the Pioneer trait because he actually lives in the Stolen Lands, though not incredibly deep into them. The trait says you get a free horse - could I substitute it for another more appropriate creature, like a giant ant? It feels like it would fit his theme (vermin and disease) a bit better than the horse... and kobolds do use giant ants as pack animals!

Illya-Nym |

I'm actually one of those who applied to one of the big kingmaker recruitments going on right now, i'm submitting a sorcereress . i should have result for that soon so when i do i'll post whether or not im dropping it.
I will need to fix it up a bit in accordance with the rule set but the profile should have everything non mechanical there as of this post.
To keep the two stats separate for now here's a link to the online character sheet. these stats will differ from my profile's.
Also i might switch to arcanist for this Kingmaker, im still deciding. Either way submitting an Arcane caster that blasting things

I see that now. Thanks for pointing it out. I read over the rules twice and failed to see it.

Illya-Nym |

And actually now that i think about it i've been wanting to build a spellslinger for a very long time and since guns are allowed i will take advantage of that somehow.
Spell slinger, Eldritch archer multiclass type thing. point being ranged arcane blasting
GM you okay with the new Eldritch archer Magus?

Illya-Nym |

I'm not familiar with that, but if you can point me towards the Eldritch Archer magus I can take a look at it. I will PROBABLY give it the okay, but I'd rather not immediately say okay to anything without giving it a read-over. Is it from Occult Origins, by chance? I don't have that book yet.
Nah its from the new Heroes of the Street book, Basically it's the Myrmidarch without the confusion and done correctly. All your ARcane Gun and or Bowman needs in one class

Illya-Nym |

im fine with it, perception is the best skill after all... Also Sweet Eldritch Archer Spellslinger it is then.
*mumbling* Bull that the fighter doesnt get perception and has a cruddy list...
Ranged combat and Arcane might are the positions i will be applying for .
Going Spellslinger first btw lvl 2 will be where i start Eldritch Archering with Gun.
Thnx for answering so quickly, saves me the usual problem of the thought stewing in my head.
I'll post an update background and stuff when completed

Illya-Nym |

I think you misunderstand, you gain Perception as a class skill WITHOUT needing that part of the archetype, because I give it to all classes for free. You have both Perception AND Use Magic Device as class skills. That said, I'm fine with your build as you've mentioned it.
Figured that was what you meant brah, i was just commenting how i really like that house rule.

Illya-Nym |

Well then here ya go
Also a link to the character sheet, still working on it though
To be clear before I tell you my story, I hate my father but using his name is the only way I can survive. Archae-Nym, is his name he's a powerful and old Shadow mage. Whatever happened in his past that drove him insane is none of my business, all i really know is it made him become obsessed with creating life.
I am experiment number 9, originally the goal of the experiment was to test the limits of what genetic combinations are safe and stable. I was created in a laboratory, using the blood of a silver dragon, the body of some noble born human dhampir thing, all bound together using his magic.
At first everything was bearable, he was mostly happy that I was even alive, he would lock himself away in his laboratory for hours on end leaving his small kingdom unattended. Of course i would tend to it. Then my body began breaking down, his magic only slowed the process temporarily.
Black inky blotches began appearing, i never felt weak or like anything was remotely wrong but if his reaction was anything to go by my life span would not last long.
He began experimenting on me in an attempt to reverse the process, after many experiments, I left. I gathered what supplies i could without him noticing.
Including an old musket, and several of his alchemical supplies and journals from his saner days. One of the journals was an old gun manual explaining the proper maintenance and usage of the instrument...Apparently this one was designed to be used with arcane energy. I was always at good at magic to a degree, mine was a bit more dangerous than his..his was all illusions and shadows, I was better at attacking, freezing, shocking it came naturally.
I left, i had no clue where i was going so i just wandered as far as i could... Eventually i just began using his name, apparently it still held a little weight at least as far as getting some respect from the outside world. Two things came to mind, i am alone in this world, i needed to change that... And i needed to find a way to fix my body and save myself from dying.
Illya often acts the leader, she is confident sometimes to the point of arrogance. She can be both kind and cold depending on the situation. She has very little qualms with killing , viewing killing humanoids as no different than killing monsters. when it comes to opponents she is clearly stronger than she will often play around with them. She views her actions as just, and knows right from wrong saving her more sadistic tendencies for people very clearly viewed as enemies. Being the daughter of a powerful and old wizard she spent much time growing up studying magic and other subjects, unlike her father she is adept at manipulation. She is True Neutral, despite knowing right from wrong and mostly choosing right, she has a few less than kind moments especially when directed at enemies that balance this out.
Illya or Illia if you prefer can be spelled either way, last name Nym. Whitish Grey hair, tiny horns underneath the hair possibly from the dragon blood. Takes on a dhampir-esq appearance, with pale skin due to the mix of human and vampire in her. Her eye's are violet colored, like her father who changed her to resemble some family appearance. Patches of pale grayish blackness, like ink stains on her skin cover her arms, she keeps them covered this is from her body breaking down. She is tall roughly 5'11 weighing around 110 pounds.
here is a picture of her general appeareance. I based here almost entirely off of this

Delightful, I agree that I find the exile bit ever so over played. I miss the days of all the races have their own odd genetic lines so it was easier to play core races and have lovely flavor to boot.

With a long life comes a lot of patience and boredom. Jhaartael Waelvor was not like most Elves, while most spent their lives devoted to the study of well pretty much anything you might find on a dusty shelf of a human library, he chose to study stories and people. Now there are of course some Elves who specialize history of the local lands or the like but he didn't choose to study people long dead per say, though the occasional tale or the like of some person's heroics does peak his interest. No he studied the way people acted, the way they could portray themselves to sway others without resulting to violence.
He took up story-telling, comedy, and even dance. He enjoyed it so much he even took to the human lands to study at their theaters and found a kindred spirit in a Goddess by the name of Shelyn. The more he learned the more he wanted to learn, languages were a thing that most elves gained a knack for and even he found them interesting. It was during a dance performance that sparked the interests of nobles around Restov. The fluidity of his movement sparked a member of the Aldori swordlords to take interest in him. He spoke to the man over a period of time and found the idea intriguing, bending swordplay and dance together into a rather deadly and lovely display of swordsmanship.
He knew that he couldn't perfect the art just by simply taking sword in hand and twirling about, no if he were to learn it proper he would need to step into the fray and get combat experience. Though he would admit that he will forever prefer to stay back and take care of things from a distance. Still, he relished the idea of giving it a go should someone get close enough. He looked in on things to see if there might be a way to sign up for the militia or something of the like and found that a charter was in place to take back the Stolen Lands.
He took up a bit of food, his new sword and a bow and took to riding the next caravan down to Oleg's for the chance of meeting up with the charter's leader and hopefully finding himself a spot on the team. Curiosity, an eagerness for something new, and the lifelong desire to learn something new sent him on his way into the dangers that were ever present. But perhaps first a nap. He had spent perhaps too long in a cushy and relaxing lifestyle, one that had changed his sleeping habits for the worst. Elves were known for not being able to be put to sleep easy and for needing very little of it. Perhaps it was all the day dreaming that he did that soon turned those quiet meditations and the like to actual deep sleeping and dreaming the long night through. He just couldn't shake himself awake without getting a good ten to twelve hours some days.
He is a driven individual, insanely curious, and a bit flamboyant. He prefers to be the life of the party, the center of the spotlight but knows have to share the stage. When he is not eating, sharing stories, engaged in some kind of performance, or traveling he is found sleeping or relaxing as best he can.

Vasilyan Medvyed |

Hello and Giuseppe Capriati here. I was in the other recruitment but unfortunately my PC didn't make the cut, so I'm presenting you my submission for your consideration. Some quick notes regarding my submission.
- I’m not a native speaker. Even though I’m an official Pathfinder RPG translator for my country (Italy) and I consider my English level high enough, English in not my mother tongue. I apologize in advance for any linguistic error my submission could contain. I’m also sorry if in my writing I can’t reach the same linguistic virtuosity I have in my native language, but I tried my best to write as good as possible.
- About Vasilyan’s equipment: I wasn’t able to purchase all the items I needed with “only” 175 gp, but I plan to purchase objects in-game if I get selected. For instance, Vasilyan needs a horse to carry things such as his bedroll, his rope, and so on.
- About Vasilyan’s movement rate: Vasilyan will purchase a leather armor and wear it during exploration as soon as he earns enough money. As a result, his actual movement rate would be 30 ft./round during exploration times.
- About Vasilyan’s “Child of Nature” trait: I’m well aware that trait was originally presented in Inner Sea Gods for characters worshipping Gozreh. Still, as Vasilyan’s story makes clear, I needed a trait that could give him Survival as a class skill. I thought that due to Erastil also being a god of nature and hunters, the trait could easily adapt itself for my needs. In the case there’s something wrong with it, I can easily change that trait with something else.
- About Vasilyan’s Background Skills: Unfortunately, I would have needed at least one more background skill to give Vasilyan all the skills I think he should have. My choice fell upon Knowledge (nobility) and Handle Animal to best reflect Vasilyan’s background: if he didn’t had those skills from the beginning, it would have been difficult to justify how he acquires them. But if I get selected, as soon as he reaches the 2nd level, Vasilyan would take at least 1 rank in Craft (bows), to reflect his ability to shape wood, create bows and arrows. For an Erastilian character, practicing a manual labor is crucial, and I plan to reflect this aspect as soon as Vasilyan begins to level up.
- About Jod Kavken’s inclusion in Vasilyan’s Background: I decided to let a young Jod Kavken appear in my background. This shouldn’t impact anything as far as I know, but if it does just let me know and I’ll substitute him with a generic Erastil’s priest. I think that having Father Jod in Vasilyan’s background could generate some great RP scenes, and this was the reason why I chose to include him.
- About Vasilyan’s Background: I know some could deem Vasilyan’s story “too long”. For this reason, I’m ready to include a “short version” of Vasilyan’s background in his profile, if the GM asks me to. I’m sorry if my work is too long or detailed, but I loved so much creating this character, and wanted so bad to join a Kingmaker game that I tried as hard as I could to get the best out of me and my character.
- About me: I’m relatively new to the PbP world, but I’m having a really good time so far. I run a Serpent’s Skull campaign here on the boards and play in a Second Darkness game, always here. I can easily commit to 1 post/day, and probably a lot more, as my posting rate demonstrates. I already have a Roll20 account and know how Roll20 works since I'm using it myself as a GM.
In the other recruitment the DM suggested some questions to us, and I think that they could be useful to understand how Vasilyan would behave if selected.
"Why should the swordlords trust you with this important job?"
Because Vasilyan has a noble lineage accounting for him, and in case of failure or insubordination his family would gain the enmity of Restov, something it couldn’t really afford, especially due to the constant demand for fruits and vegetables coming from South. Furthermore, because Vasilyan is a skilled archer and he’s guided by a strong faith in Erastil which guarantees for his virtuous and impeccable conduct. Moreover, because Vasilyan knows how to survive in the wildlands and is particularly familiar with fey creatures, who are rumored to inhabit the Green Belt. Finally, because Vasilyan already has had experiences both with bandits and with guiding a community, as his experiences in the Narlmarches and Velinstadts demonstrate.
"How do you plan to set up a new nation and establish the trust and loyalty of the people?"
Vasilyan plans to establish a new nation starting from a fundamental and easy-to-share concept drawn for his faith: a nascent community must be in harmony with the landscape surrounding it, using it without depleting it. Therefore, first of all Vasilyan plans to eradicate all the potential threats preventing the birth of a new nation in the Stolen Lands: principally bandits, but also the most dangerous monsters inhabiting the wilds. After assuring that a community can be established without its inhabitants constantly facing dangers and fearing for their own lives, Vasilyan plans to use the Stolen Lands exploration to manage in the best way possible the resources offered by the lands, trying at the same time to maintain an essential harmony with the environment, without overexploiting its natural resources: this implies building infrastructures such as bridges and roads, but also using mineral deposits, waterways, lumber sources and every other resource the land offers.
Once these steps are made, it’s important to take care in every detail of the relationships with surrounding beings, starting from the creatures inhabiting the Stolen Lands (including fey creatues, with whom would be best to maintain collaborative relationships) and coming to interweave a solid network of alliances with surrounding kingdoms and communities so as to ensure that the new nation can count on a stronger protection than those offered by his armies only.
To earn people’s trust and loyalty, Vasilyan plans to show himself as a model to emulate, in order to drive the people to respect him for what he embodies. Of course, Vasilyan is also an expert politician and therefore he doesn’t undervalue the usefulness of a targeted propaganda in order to obtain trust and loyalty from the people. To all of this must contribute an easy-to-share legislative system: the new nation’s people should share the laws apart from respect it. Vasilyan plans to earn the trust of the most prominent groups and personalities of the nation to ensure more quickly the trust and loyalty of all the people, and aims to realize this goal not only letting people admire him for his deeds and virtues, but also trying to find diplomatic compromises, even with the promise of lands or titles, with the most influent people of the new nation.
Vasilyan believes that using strong elements of cohesion and national identity as flags, uniforms and new national holidays could promote the birth of a strong sense of nation identity within the nation itself and as a result facilitate its growth and loyalty.
"What sorts of religious and legal strictures do you think should be part of a new nation?"
Vasilyan believes that a community should start from easy-to-share fundaments, and as a consequence he plans to conceive and promulgate simple and plain laws for the new nations. The most fundamental aspect to consider is that these laws should be conceived in view of a common goal, which is the survival and welfare of the nation itself. Obvious crimes such as murder should of course be condemned, while from a religious point of view Vasilyan thinks that granting the citizens the freedom to worship whichever non-evil deity they prefer could help the people to not feel oppressed by the government. Of course, the nations should promote those faiths encouraging to obedience, virtue and respect of law, such as those of Abadar, Erastil, Iomedae and Torag, at least in order to discourage the birth of sentiments of rebelliousness and protest.
From a legal point of view, the first laws to be promulgated should concern holiday, everyday life, crimes, titles and associated privileges, workers’ rights and environment management. Furthermore, the current situation would probably make necessary the promulgation of a specific law against banditism.
"Do you have particular plans and goals? Why should the swordlords support those goals?"
Vasilyan’s goal don’t differ in anything from those of the swordlords, and is precisely for this reason that he believes they should support them. Vasilyan’s primary goal is to explore the Stolen Lands, clear them from any danger that could hinder the birth of a new community in their borders and lastly to establishment of a new nation in the Stolen Lands. Establishing a new community is both personal and religious Vasilyan’s goal and the swordlords’ one. Furthermore, Vasilyan firmly believes that the birth of a stable nation in the Stolen Lands could come in handy to the Restovian government, both as a buffer state between Brevoy and the most belligerent River Kingdoms and as a precious allied in the case of a civil war in Brevoy. The personal goal that probably less coincide with swordlords’ interests consist in ensuring that the new nation maintains an harmonic relationship with its environment, using the natural resources rationally and with common sense, while maintaining cordial and pacific relationships with Green Belt’s creatures.
"Do you have a criminal background? Is there anything we should know now that might cause problems later in your political future if it were to get out to the public?"
Yes, Vasilyan has a criminal background. He lived as a bandit for 8 eight years, but never killed anyone. He has renegade that past long ago, and he believes that being a bandit will be more a benefit than a detriment in fighting bandits, because Vasilyan possess a far deeper knowledge regarding bandits, their psychology, motives, tactics and common goals than the majority of other people. Furthermore, he know for personal experience how to deal with a bandit and above all how to transform a bandit in a precious resource for the new nation and a loyal subject instead of turning him into another head on a pike. Vasilyan assures the swordlords to gave regretted mistakes made in the past and ensures them that there’s no chance that he could give in to temptation, also because should he ever do it, he would immediately lose all of his power and therefore won’t be a great threat to deal with. He has understood that the life as a bandit is unhappy and does not reserve anything good at all. If he’s asked for an evidence, he gives a demonstration that there’s no trace of criminality in him, otherwise Erastil would never grant him his favor. Furthermore, Vasilyan stresses that admitting his past crimes is the most evident proof of his complete redemption: he could have lied if he wanted to, but he has chosen to tell the truth. Of course, Vasilyan believes that his criminal past can also be passed over in silence if necessary, although he does not underestimate the possible advantages that having a leader who has renegade banditism could bring: the Stolen Lands’ bandits could be driven to follow his example and abandon their life as bandits and start a new life as honest citizens, emulating Vasilyan’s example showing that everything is possible.
I wish good luck to all the applicants and really hope to be selected for this campaign!
@DM: Vasilyan here is almost complete. I only need to hange his ability scores, add another 25 gp worth of items to his sheet and maybe add a rank in Perception instead of another skill. I'm also working on his appearance, but please let me know if my submission is too long or you won't accept a ranged paladin in your group.
I also noticed that no information about recruitment deadline has been provided: when you're going to announce the selected players?

Kerri Corynian |

I will throw my hat in here, I did apply for DM Jesses Kingmaker but sadly did not make the cut.
Kerri is a Halfling Sorceress of the Linnorm (Draconic) Bloodline. She is primarily focused on Diplomacy and either buffing the allies or debuffing the enemies.
Everything has been adjusted for your rulset, now to decide whether to stick with Point Blank Shot (feat) and Magic Missile (spell), or switch to Skill Focus Diplomacy (feat) and Sleep (spell).
Here is my writing example, it is from a character I tried to use to get into a Legacy of Fire game, but he wasn't selected unfortunately. But the writing should still be okay.
Today whilst working he spots someone at the gate and rushes over to open it, partly fearing the reaction and mostly fearing the master in case he decided to beat him for stopping his work. As Archon made it to the gate he over extended his step slightly and fell onto the gate knocking it outwards, luckily the guest managed to step to one side and thus avoided harm. "I will beaten for this now, why do I have to live like this?" The guest reached down and helped Archon to his feat, he didn't recoil at the site of the Orc, (for many believe Half-Orcs to still be Orcs) but checked to see if he was alright before asking to be taken to the Master. Archon noticed the look in the mans eye upon seeing him shuffle to the Masters room "A look of pity or disgust?"
Archon knocked on the door and informed the master of his guest, the master in turn replied with a master around the back of the head and sent him on his way. As Archon left he heard the master speak to his new guest, "The only way to treat those brutes is with force, it is all they know. So who are you and what do you want with me?"
A couple of hours later the master and his guest walked out into the garden and to the gate, they stopped at the gate and summoned Archon over. The master turned to him and glared at him, "You are this mans property now, you shall do as he tells you and you will not dishonour me by being defiant." He went to smack his head again, but the new master caught his hand and spoke in a quiet, yet threatening voice, "Would you damage someone elses property, sir?" The old master glared at him and stormed off. The new master looked to Archon and smiled, "Now let's get rid of those chains, shall we? Sarenrae will not tolerate you in them." Archon looked at the man in a worried way and when he realised it wasn't a trap or test he replied, "No offense master, but no. I will keep them to remind me of what has happened, so I can look to the future. I do not know who this Sarenrae is, is it another master?" The man shocked by this reached into his pack and produced a book, handed it to Archon and smiled, "Read this, be accepted into her warm light and learn, I am one of her children. I am going on an expedition, it will be dangerous but if you survive, you can earn your freedom."
With that they both walked into the city of Katapesh towards a new and dangerous future.

B.A. Ironskull |

I'm guessing my Blue Rose Cavalier (Alvissa Farateldi in DM Jesse's recruitment thread) would be out, so I would like to submit a druid.
I like to multiclass, so might add bard, rogue or ranger level(s).
Would you allow the changeling race?
I like playing support/skills roles in campaigns.
Going out for a bit, so I will submit my character later this evening.
Changeling(?) druid 1 (Caves, Earth, Fire or Plant) no animal companion

Jon, The Evil DM |

For those wondering, I will likely close recruitment in about a week or so. I want to have people have a chance to post in with all their characters, so I'll also get back to all those who have sent me private messages at some point as well, assuming you've sent me something other than just a backstory.

Mahdrig |

I added the stat block to her profile. Mahdrig's built to survive, so she would take on other classes to help her fulfill a support role in combat and role-play. I could see UC rogue, oracle, sorc, witch, and/or bard as possibilities. Changelings have some baggage, so it's best to be adaptive.
Also, took the Pioneer trait, her horse Char has the Work trick, didn't add any others. Char isn't in the stat block, just a light horse plus the Work trick.

Iff |

I'd like to join this campaign, but I'm still struggling a bit with creating a character.
I was in DM Jesse's recruitment for Kingmaker, for which I created Bogdan Kolar. I really like him and would put him up for consideration, but I don't think he's right for the group you already have. Bogdan is a Slayer and could fill the ranged striker and skills role, but you might need casters more. Besides, I think Bogdan would work best in a group where he could be charged to 'protect' one of the other characters. Maybe you could pair him up with the second new character, if you like him?
http://paizo.com/people/BogdanKolar
As an alternative, I've been thinking about a magic-focused druid, who might branch off into wizard and mystic theurge eventually. She has some odd theories about magic, trying to find a grand theory mingling magic, nature and the First World. A trip into the Stolen Lands would be perfect for her to study the ley lines there. The rest of it just hasn't come together yet. I'll try to let it stew for a couple more days.

Iavas Gwilwileth of Rostland |

This is the version of Iavas I'd be using. Should be about complete. I am planning on unchained rogue at level 2, but we can discuss the changes then. Classic rogue is actually fine too, as we get dexterity to damage anyway.
She's starting as cleric, but will later be mostly rogue with minor cleric abilities.

![]() |

Or within the 5 hours...whoops. Anyway, done with the crunch, save for a few equipment bits and pieces. Fluff is mostly done, here's a link to my character sheet which will update as I finish the last few bits.
Also, here's my eidolon's character sheet.
EDUT: Mostly done now, let me know if I missed anything.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Alright, I have made my decision. Thanks to everyone who applied for my last two spots for the game, but I would please ask that Creon 18 and Gallidren Aerenduill would report to my discussion thread, which you can find here. I really enjoyed a lot of your characters, but these are the two I feel will best fit into both my party and my plans for the campaign as a whole. I will do my best to get you both into the game ASAP, but it may not be until tomorrow or Sunday that you would be brought into the gameplay thread. Just to re-iterate, I am accepting:
Gallidren Aerenduill
Creon 18
