If you are instructed to roll a d6-1, or a d4-1, etc, is the intention that you COULD get a 0?

I suspect the answer is yes, but just in case...

Thanks!

Yes, you can end up with a result of 0.

Sovereign Court

Your total roll can never go below 0, but can reach 0. Keep in mind, individual dice can still go below zero ("Roll 4d4 and subtract 2 from each die rolled), but the total combined will never go negative.

Scarab Sages

Although, if you are rolling damage, a roll of 0 is still one point of nonlethal damage.

Nevermind, I thought I was in the RPG forum instead of the card game. Sorry.

Thanks! I think this point about the ability of individual dice to go below zero is the issue I was trying to clarify. In effect, you tally up all the +s and -s in one column, then total the faces of the dice in a second column, then add the two columns together, considering any negative final result to be zero.

This makes, for example, a d6-2 SUBSTANTIALLY inferior to a d4, because the -2 counts, even if you roll a 1 on the d6. One third of the time, rolling that d6-2 doesn't help you, and 1/6 of the time it actually hurts you.

Thanks!
