CD Sajan is a boss. I played him this past weekend, and by the time we finished the first adventure of Season of the Righteous, he was adding +8 to all of his combat checks. I was generally rolling 1d8 + 1d6 + 8. It was pretty ridiculous. It all stems from his power to add +2 to Slashing weapons, and the first upgrade I took was to boost that to +4.

I was. On the one hand, I really love the idea of 8 blessings/recharging/multi-use. But after seeing him in play once, it seems like very few of those blessings ever got used for combat...

Now, imagine you'd put your Skill Feats into Dex instead of Str, and you'd grabbed a Kama and two Temple Swords (one from the Deck, one from Iconic Heroes).
Now you're either rolling 1d10 + 1d8 + 7 with the Temple Swords (+1, using Dex over Melee), or 1d10 + 1d6 + 9 with the Kama (using Acrobatics over Melee). And you can grab a Kusarigama with a Weapon B for more Acrobatic/Slashing excitement.

On a related note, there are now FOUR weapons which list Sajan as owner: one P, one B, one 3, and one 6.
So, given that Deck Upgrades are the only way to add deck number 3 and 6 cards to your Character Deck from your Class Deck box (since Sajan can only every have six Weapons, and there are more than 6 Weapon B cards in the Class Deck), is there a game mechanic use in OP for the Owner tag on the deck 3 and 6 weapons? Would it come up in AP, rather than OP?

Hawkmoon269 |

In non-OP, Sajan can treat those as basic. So once they are in the box (i.e. once you start that adventure) if he is short a weapon, he can choose that one. So if you have started deck 6 and everyone rebuilds and Sajan is short a weapon, he can take that deck 6 weapon he owns, because it is Basic to him.
I'm not sure if he can do the same in OP or not.

He can do the same in OP, yes. So essentially, as soon as you hit deck 3, he can instantly add the new weapon to his deck next time he rebuilds, as opposed to having to find and acquire a Deck 3 weapon. Same thing at Deck 6.
I think you know this, but he'd either have to use an upgrade for the weapon, or be replacing a banished weapon, or be adding a weapon card feat. He couldn't just swap the weapon with a weapon in his deck.
But beyond that, the PSACG Guide and the standard game rules differ on building your deck. The standard game rules say that when you need to add a card you can choose any Basic card. The PSACG Guide does not say this. Instead it explicitly names the deck number you can use.
According to the guide, the highest level card you can add to your deck without using an upgrade is the current adventure - 2. So treating a level 3 or 6 card as Basic has no impact in OP play.

Yeah, I think the only advantage is if there was a banished weapon or a card feat gained that the level 3 or 6 would come into play.

But Basic cards have a value of 0 when considering their level in the deck minus two rule, as I understand it. Unless we're talking about two separate 'Basic' rules elements?

If the card has the set B (or C or P) indicator, then the level is 0. We are talking about the card having the Basic trait, or being treated as if it has the Basic trait. Trait and level are two different things.

I love when they use the same word for different things. -_-
Except when they're not …
B = Base set
C = Character Add-on deck
P = Promotional card
Basic and Elite are traits that are used to know when they get removed from the set as you get into the later adventure decks. In this case, when we're talking Basic, we're talking about that Basic trait. There are OP rules how to rebuild decks, and they rely on Basic (not just B) cards.

Except that they don't. B is not Basic. Everybody just assumed it was.
Elcoderdude is correct unfortunately; in PFSACG, even if a higher level card is Basic (eg Cleric CD has a Basic 1 Blessing of the Gods, Paladin CD has a Basic 2 Cure), you can't start with it in your deck or use a Card Feat to get it. You still have to use a deck upgrade, or wait until AD - 2. So the Owner trait for the higher level cards are meaningless in OP (but great for the base game).
However, Sajan does get a B Owner Temple Sword and a P Owner Temple Sword, so it's probably fine.

I would amend that by adding "unless you've already exhausted all of the non-basic B cards in your Class Deck." When you get a new card / have to replace a banished card before the AD - 2 rule kicks in, you go "Basic B, non-Basic B, Basic 1, etc". I accidentally broke that rule at GenCon last year with the second Cure in the Bard Class Deck, but corrected the mistake with an early deck upgrade.

In an OP scenario name, it indicates the order of release/intended play, as in 1-2A, 1-2B, etc.
In "A1S2", it stands for Adventure.
I was referring to the one in the corner of the cards, Tanis. Unless I hallucinated those A Item cards. Most of our games go by in a flurry of dice rolls.

**BUMP**
This is the second session I've reported with my monk. We're through 1-2A and the need for the Monk Class Deck character sheets and inventory list is now really important as I've gone through many upgrades and several feats.

I use a Pro-Fit inner sleeve with a Sharpie to check boxes then a clear sleeve. That's not too much of a problem tracking.
But I've been upgrading the boons and already upgraded an upgrade. That's when it gets tricky. I note the type and level on my chronicle sheets but not the actual cards. Still I'm going to keep pushing for an update to the Community Use Class Deck stuff.

Please update these sheets for the monk. I had another player ask if I had sheets printed because they bought the deck and wanted to start a character.

Woo! Awesome!
Played Athnul for the first time last night, had fun with blessings.
Her second power, Reveal a blessing to evade your encounter, Does that have to be on your exploration? Running as written, I was having fun dodging other players Arboreal Blights' Fiendish Trees and Guardhouse patrols, but it felt a little ridiculous.

It doesn't say 'on your turn' or anything of the sort, I think, ergo you can use it to evade anything. You can use it to evade barriers or boons as well.
(If I'm remembering the card's phrasing correctly, at least.)

![]() ![]() |

Both ways work for me, though I'd prefer it if they picked one and made them all that way.
I could see people who don't key in on adventure deck numbers getting confused as to why they have, say, two cards with the same name but there's only one entry in the list for it. (The other is farther along.)
It also makes it easier to see when you'll get another copy of a given card, except for cards that appear multiple times at the same adventure deck number. (I've been adding the number of copies information to the deck lists before printing them; I wish it was already included.)

Just remember that anything evaded is neither defeated nor undefeated. So if a barrier says that ALL Fiendish Trees/Demons/Whatever must be defeated, or everyone must defeat the barrier itself (like the Army barriers), evading YOUR encounter will just cycle the barrier back in the location deck.

Correct!
"You may reveal a blessing to evade your encounter. (Then you may recharge that blessing to explore your location)"
So if I recharge the blessing to dodge an Arborial Blight, do I get to take an explore even though it's not my turn? And would I take it after the Tree is resolved, or after the Blight is resolved?
