Agreed. The quality of each contestant's work was staggering, and the caliber of the competition proved much more intimidating than the judges' critiques.
Regardless of how far anyone advanced, every participant now has a publicly reviewed and fully accessible writing sample that adds to their RPG resume. That can serve as a terrific springboard for writing gigs with 3PPs, other contests, or self-published works (as Russ Brown has demonstrated to great effect). Take advantage of that resource and get your name out there - with enough enthusiasm and tenacity, the multiverse is yours to mold as you see fit!
Congrats to the Top 4!! Looking forward to yet another round of biting my nails down to the knuckles over who to vote for!
Congratulations to the top 4. We're all looking forward to seeing what you drag up from the Sodden Lands. And remember, you're almost there now. Only need to stress out a bit longer (though it'll feel like an eternity).

Congratulations Top 4! Good luck to all of you, this is going to be a rough week, take care of yourselves while you're working hard.
Super Congratulations top 4! Good job! You've all worked so hard to get here!
I really want you to know you deserve all the adulation! You did great, and Everyone who made it this far should be honored!
Maybe it's all the Harry Potter my wife and I have been watching, but I'm getting a serious Triwizard Tournament vibe being in the Top 4.

That's because only the other Top 4 can really appreciate what you're going through. It's sort of an ever narrowing field of people who understand. There is a support group for the RPG Superstars. :-)
Monica does indeed know what she is talking about folks, it's like she has been there or something, crazy huh. :)

Sadly, we've had an issue with the submission tool for the final four entries, which prevents them from using it and its official word count preview function.
We've contacted our final four, and given them an alternate method of submitting.
However, because that option doesn't have the preview function, I will be giving slight leeway on these entries word counts, since different word processor programs may give slightly different word counts.
When considering your votes in the Final Round, please keep this additional difficulty our contestants had to overcome in mind. And if you see anyone mention a word count discrepancy, please direct them to this post.
Web gremlins, it has to be. I think they make a spray for those, should I send some to Chris?

Everyone is missing out on my adventure where you would have learned that Aroden is not actually dead, but has been throwing a century+ long rager in the abendego gulf. It was epic.
So clicking on the submission tool and getting a notice saying the round has closed gave me a minor heart attack. Thankfully I checked this board and my email. Now I just pray that my email doesn't get caught by a spam filter or lost somewhere in the Interwebs.
This has been a great experience that has helped me improve a lot as a designer. Thank you very much to all the judges, everybody who provided feedback, and all the other contestants who inspired and intimidated me with their excellent work!

Hey guys, I haven't been available much, but I've been checking in periodically!
I just want to say you've got this! Keep going! Two hours and you can rest! GO GO GO!

Seriously GOOD LUCK Final 4! All my hopes are lay on you!
@ Jeff Swank Shhhh no is supposed to know that!
But in all seriousness, very well fought and played final four, all of you deserve to be there, so win or lose, know you made this years RPGSS a contest to remember, congrats and good luck!

We'll check for these things, since the normal submission process didn't function.
Anticipation! It's like being a kid on Christmas eve, unable to go to sleep because soon there will be PRESENTS.
I eagerly await unwrapping some inspired adventures! This weekend will be a long one ;)

I agree
So by now, all proposals are submitted and it is just a matter of waiting for them to be revealed! I can't wait to see them on Monday!
Top 4, try to relax and keep the stress to a minimum this weekend. :)

Dear Season 9 Top 4,
Congratulations, you have done something that only 32 other people have done before you, you have turned over your first adventure pitch to Paizo after having been scrutinized by every person who felt the desire to speak their mind while you had to sit all alone, in your own mind, second guessing yourself, wondering if you screwed up, hoping your super star was shiny enough, and waiting the final reveal of the last voting round of RPG Superstar you will ever compete in. Your work here is done. You have completed all that you can and now you need to take this weekend off. Go hug your family members, hang out with your friends, do some long abandoned laundry, probably clean the bathroom, because who had time to do all of that while you were wracking your brain coming up with amazing things to catch the fancy of the judges and voting public.
You are all awesome, regardless of who holds the title at the end. I hope you have taken the time to get to know your fellow Top 4, because they are the only people who have had as close to the same experience as you have had.
Welcome to the survivors club, welcome to the Land of Freelance Writing. You walked through the most public gateway into the realm. Hold your heads high and be proud of all that you have accomplished. You are all amazing. Rest well. When this is all said and done, if any of you have any questions or are looking for guidance on where to go next and how to continue your freelancing career, you have only to ask, there's several of us around who would be happy to help you get as much out of this experience as you can handle.

So, on this fine Saturday afternoon...
I'm judging you and you and you and you.
The rest of y'all are off the hook.

Can you give us that stats Adam? How many started at level 5? How many featured the Sodden Lands? How many included the word Boggard at some point?
I'm excited to see everyone's work. Ooh lordy!
Good luck, everyone. I'm out of town Monday, so probably won't get to comment right away, but really looking forward to reading them.
I had to take a break for the evening, but I'll finish up judging tomorrow.
I assume there are at least 4 other people waiting around here. I'm rooting for all of you, can't wait to see what you've created.

Came to check out the proposals, but I don't see them yet. Isn't today the day?

There's something refreshing about waiting to see the next round's offerings without the pressure.
Should have just gone up! We had a slight logistical delay.
Chris Lambertz wrote: Should have just gone up! We had a slight logistical delay. *Shakes fist* Curse Piazo Goblins!!!! Hope you get some solutions/adventures to resolve it soon.
Speaking of tech stuff.
Oh my the entries are up! If you didn't know the ENTRIES ARE UP!
Congrats Top 4, now the process of voting begins.
Seriously though: You guys have done great so far. You have every reason to be proud of your accomplishment. I think you deserve a hearty pat on the back, and a stiff drink and a good meal.
Rest well, and take your mind off the competition for a while. Reflect on the journey that got you here, and be amazed. I am certainly glad to see you prosper!
By the end of reading the backgrounds only 2 caught my attention. After work will read them all in their entirety.
I don't want to vote for all of current entries, but I do want to vote for more than one of them.
And I would want to play in all of them. It's hard to choose . . .

Let's see... how to tease and poke the four finalists a little? ... :P
I voted for the one that I thought had an evocative name...
I voted for the one that seemed the most cohesive and tightly themed...
I voted for the one that appealed to me as a GM...
I voted for the one that appealed to me as a player...
I voted for the one that, given the chance, I would love to contribute to...
I voted purely on the final submission, needing nothing of previous rounds to convince me who I should vote for...
I voted for the one most likely to open my wallet...
I voted for the one that had the most Paizo like phrasing...
I only read the judges feedback after casting my vote! (Ooooh, that's a good one! :P)
I wanted four votes and only got one! (ha ha)
Yeah! No gender clues! Nicely vague and tormenting!
No clues at all as to who got the TemplateFu nod this year! ;)
Yup! That post should cause some writhing in agony.
"Evil me" grin
Good luck finalists!
And just think about this one...
If you think the work to get this far was hard, just imagine what it's going to be like if you win and have a real honest to goodness deadline bearing down upon you like a train with no brakes! Win and the real hard work begins,
"Even More Evil" grin
Each round of voting was difficult in it's own way.
This round is always the most difficult. The weight of each decision held upon my shoulders as I calculated and considered each decision with honest and brutal judgment.
I envy you. I admire all of you top 4. Good job. That was hard. I'm seriously wondering how all of you faired.
