The question the OP asked has been answered satisfactorily. Please lock thread.

I would rather see the thread moved to the GM section.

There are some teachable moments here that are worth discussion. Since no one is being abusive or disruptive, I see no need to lock it.

Congratulations and Welcome. You may want to spend some time reading the "new GM" threads in the GM forum. There is a lot of advice for dealing with this sort of thing in that forum.

I am fine with either a lock or move. At this point the thread has went way behind what I intended. Everyone seems to be (often harshly) judging anything they can find wrongdoing in. I am forgiving of the whole thing and as stated in my first sentence of this thread am not looking for retribution in any way. I would honestly rather the thread die if that continues.

FLite: I had him read a lot of stuff in preparation. I have been GMing for decades but I might be able to pick something up from that thread too.

Thanx again to everyone who has been helpful.

I'll echo the read the GM thread for the module. It can be easy to TPK with it. The most important thing to remember when running a game as a GM is to try and make sure everyone is having fun. I've only been in one almost TPK where the players had fun doing it but that was a unique situation.

Another important thing ... as a new GM ... is don't be afraid to ask questions ... Most often your players will know the mechanic for the oddball thing they want to do... have them show it to you in the book so you can reference it .. but don't be afraid to look at the player and be like ... splain it to me like I'm 2 ... best way to learn oddball mechanics imo
