Hello all! My player wants to play something like this for a soul-knife archetype. We've talked a bit and from what I can tell (not having seen the anime) he'd be like a soul-knife except he'd pull weapons out of other creatures (if they have a soul). If he breaks the weapon the creature would automatically die in a few rounds as their soul would be destroyed. There'd be a save to resist him taking the weapon in the first place and the weapon would likely be adamantine or something like that to make it harder. The weapon drawn would be random but would be based on the person's 'psyche' and so would remain constant within a person unless they underwent a great mental change. He can use the ability on allies as well, although it is incredibly fatiguing for them and can result in death if used for too long (something like escalating fortitude saves). He'd likely be a full martial and have something like the brawler's combat flexibility to counter how he's using a different weapon almost every combat. I'll add more stuff if I remember, for now can I get your thoughts?
Seems to me like he could rip out a soul and then just smash it to pieces, killing the opponent.
Yeah, I guess he'd have a save or die spell like ability - is that overpowered or is there some way to balance that?
Well I mean, it's kinda balanced since some other guy could just stab the enemy and kill him that way.
Alright, we decided to go ahead and try drafting up a class, as we've never done so ourselves before and thought it would be fun to try out. The first draft of the class can be found here, let us know your thoughts!
Edit: I will say upfront that one of the abilities, 'Void Flexibility' is verbatum from the brawler class. The void architect class is mostly for use in our own home game, but let us know if we're infringing on some copyright laws.
