Representation Matters- Book of Heroic Races Advanced Edition

Product Discussion

Hey Everyone,

I know I am late to the game, but I learned in a very real way just how much representation matters. While paizo has a number of the ethnicities covered with their signature characters, I am learning more can be done. Also, I am noticing the lgbtq community getting some love as well, but there are many other groups not getting anywhere near the love.

I mean our signature changeling is left handed. Overweight persons (such as myself) do not get as much love. But what other groups are not getting represented.

Please tell us what we should include in our art. Reason I am asking now us that we have half the signature characters in for the Book of Heroic Races Advanced Compendium, one more is ordered and we still have 5 to go. Plus we still have other interior art images that need ordered and I want to be as inclusive as possible.

Thank you in advance.

Well I'm black and relatively portly so the when the Slayer, Investigator and Occultist goot spoiled I was happy if just for the cosplay potential. But I'm male and black women get less representation in fantasy. (Pathfinder suffers from this less from the get go) actually I have to admit that having a black woman that was not half naked visible on products is one of the reasons I picked up Pathfinder in the first place.

You have a left-handed character? That is something really rare, speaking as someone who's left-handed IRL.

Hmm. I think that Meso-American groups are rarely included, which is lame, because an adventure in the jungles would be cool!

Also, there are no campaigns I am aware of in central/lower Africa. Only the mid-east and Egypt get any attention it seems.

I don't see native American peoples being portrayed much, either. The Aboriginal people, or Maori. There are a lot that have been overlooked because of a lack of written history I think.

As a left-handed friend of mine use to tell me all the time, "Left handed people are the only ones in their right mind."

But yes, you can see her image here.
