I'm having a blocker on the 4th scenario of WotR base adventure - Traitor's Lodge. My character - Alain - doesn't have any magic weapons yet, and yet both the villain and one of the henchmen requires magic to defeat. Although I can acquire the sacred prism, this only really helps on one check, because it gets recharged after use.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah. Single character solo play can be difficult for these kinds of reasons.
STRATEGY: ADVICE FOR SOLO PLAY
Solo play is particularly good for quickly completing scenarios toadvance your character if you want to catch up to other players.
Not all characters should be considered equal for solo play. Kyra is particularly helpful to other characters, but that doesn’t help when there are no other characters. Alain, on the other hand, is great for solo play, because other characters can’t help him much.
You can also play multiple characters if you like; we suggest you try solo play with 2 characters. Treat each character as if he were being played by a separate player (so if you’re playing Harsk and Balazar, advance the blessings deck at the start of Harsk’s turn and at the start of Balazar’s turn).
Some cards are particularly difficult in solo play. If you’re playing Enora by herself, and you pick up a Telekinesis Trap, you may be making impossible Acrobatics checks until you die. When you encounter a card your character just can’t deal with, remove it from the game and replace it with another card of the same type that roughly matches its power level but isn’t quite so impossible to overcome. (Some cards are actually easier in solo play, like banes that require each character to succeed at a check.)
If you don't want to try 2 characters (and have one of them be a caster who can get the Magic trait more easily) then what you would end up doing is playing repeatedly until you got a couple of Magic weapons that would let you defeat them. Rather than bang your head against the wall like that, here is what I'd do:
Shuffle up the B/C weapons. Draw 1 random weapon with the Melee and Magic trait. Try the scenario. If you think 1 magic weapon won't be enough, get a second random one. But I think, even though it will be a challenge, you can do it with just 1. That seems to be the most fair thing to do.

I had the same issue - it's one of the reasons I gave up on solo Alain and switched to Seoni.
I did manage to beat it with Alain, but I kept the loot that adds magic in my hand, and got lucky with location order and the villain was at the last location, so I only needed to beat him once. It's just a brutal scenario for a solo martial character so early.
Personally in my solo play I only use the "replace" option if the task is categorically impossible - like needing a 13 on a d4 roll. A 12 is doable with the right blessing. The 13 might be doable if I have the correct cards, like Aid.
Knowing this was coming in my Seoni playthrough I threw blessings at magic weapons. Having a single magic weapon actually makes this one a lot easier.
