How often do PCs switch factions? Would it being cheaper make that more often? Would having permanent boons (faction cards) make this less likely?
I'm asking because I'm looking at the grand lodge faction card. There are seven goals, it takes six goals to get the "big" reward. One of the goals is to gm 4 times and assign the credit to this guy, that won't happen for irrefutable reasons (not the point of this topic). So the only way I can get six goals is to get someone to join the Grand Lodge, so how likely do you think that'll be?

I've been expecting to see one or more threads kind of like the Boon trading thread. You know, a thread saying something like:
"Grand Lodge Cleric looking to recruit someone looking to change factions!"
except for the life of me I can't see what the Sponser will be offering.... I mean I have several PCs that are looking to change factions the next time I play them - but right now they get a free Faction Change (season 6 change), and this would cost them 1PP per level (and one is 11th level).
So I'm watching this thread a little more now...

There's probably a number of people looking to switch factions now that the cards have come out. I know the scarzini are a little upset with their under-representation in the exchange...
The problem is that everyone has a free faction change for this season anyway...For next season though halving the cost should go a long way towards making shifts a lot more viable without burning your entire "Res me" fund.
Presumably you could horse trade, "This character joins this characters faction, then next week we play the lowbies and my character will join your faction..." or you could set up some rube goldberg esque plot where player 1 joins a faction for player 2 who joins a faction for player 3 who joins a faction for player 4 or you can even conga line it with A silver crusader recruiting one player who immediately recruits another who...

some other questions would be -
1) can my Dash 6 PC sponsor my Dash 9 PC in a faction change...
2) can my Dash 7 PC sponsor "Al the Alchemist " to change to Grand Lodge - and then the next game Al uses his season 6 free change switch again... perhaps even back?
3) can a PC in Core campaign sponsor a PC in the Extended campaign?

For 1 and 3, I'm pretty sure Mike or John said you have to actually be playing in the game with the character you sponsor, and they have to switch at the end of that game. So no sponsoring your own characters or sponsoring characters across campaigns.
EDIT: Found the post from John.
For 2, I don't know, though that certainly seems against the spirit of it.

Please excuse the Thread Necro...
But I have a question about switching factions on a PC that last played (blowing dust off old Chronical...caugh-caugh)... 7/20/2014.
I may actually play her again in a few weeks... Can I switch her faction before her next game? In other words use her "free faction change" from season 6?

As intended, yes. But as written, that's no longer an option.
Ah well... Guess I should have looked at her back then, but I didn't figure I would be playing her again so I just put her on the shelf and left her.
I'll look at the other possiblilities and see if I have another PC that woud be better to play...
