I hope that...
they have gotten rid of social links.
the dungeons are no longer random and have more interesting and varied designs and locations.
there is more freedom of where you can go and more to explore.
you can talk to the enemies like the first 2 games.
that monsters have spell cards for fusion to create personas.
that the main character is not the only one who can change his persona.
that some of the "dungeons" in games include, but not limited too, a school, the mall, the sewers, a theme park, a museum(art or history), a circus, a park/forest/garden, a toy store/factory, a spooky mansion, a hospital, a gym, and a graveyard/catacombs.

I thought there would be more Persona fans on this site.
I've thought of the Shin Megami series, almost got one recently, but a lot of the concept that uses the real religion stuff of this world kind of puts me off of it.
If it didn't utilize real religion concepts (at least I understand that it does, I haven't actually ever played a game of it, but the appearances are that it has some rather deeply ingrained concepts from religion in the real world incorporated into it) I might be far more gung ho in trying it.
I guess I'm just not wanting that type of religion tossed at me when trying to play a fantasy game.
Or, I may be wrong about how much of a religion is actually used in it, but what I've read of some of the summaries sound like it can get pretty darn deep into religious conceptualization.
I'm not completely anti-religious concepts in games, I LOVE the Diablo series, but it's pretty much your standard fantasy fare. All the series from the Shin Megami Tensei series of games seem to incorporate Christianity as a status quo type thing from what I understand.

Didn't see a big reason to post here as the things you like about the games and parts I do clash pretty heavily with the social links being the most obvious example. I personally really liked them and hope to see them in every game to come. The mix of dungeon crawl and socializing/story was what made it 'Persona' for me and also one of my favourite series.

Arise!
Been playing through and I enjoy the game but have issues with things the characters have done
Having a meeting right in a public access way. I mean the game even points out how they get spied on by two other characters and they talk openly about missions. The school roof was at least somewhat private and it seems to be that the characters vanish into thin air when they go to the Metaverse.
Mishima. The fellow who gives you missions for the Mementos was ok at first and I played along since hey, exp and money. But then I hit a scene where he is going on about 'Famous because of me.' as well as wanting the Phantoms to go after someone based on a rumor. I've cut this fellow out completely and just Rp it as dumping him into the Metaverse

The main character doesn't blindly follow Mishima, he does have some say in what the Thieves are going to do despite being a silent protagonist. Mishima gets dark (well, for him) before things get better. Usually confidant rank 7-8 is where things are darkest for the side stories before things get better.
As for the conversion therapy, one video helped put things into perspective for some people that I know. I use the video because my brain is too dumb to put feels into words. Video. Don't watch it until you've finished the game cause spoilers abound. But as a deconstruction vid its worth watching.

So I'm in December
Shido. Gorram multi stage fight. I'm level 60 with everyone else at level 59 there about. Due to lots of faffing about and exploring the game, none of my combat party has max social links(I love fishing and baseball) 12-13 days left on the clock before election and I am just wondering if I should dive into Mementos and kick everyone up to 60
