Morality, an Omniverse, and Exiles and Sojourns

Gamer Life General Discussion

First: not directly asking about alignment, although it's certainly a valid topic here.

Second: this is going to be covering a lot and exceedingly varied ideas.

Third: I'm feverish and probably not thinking clearly.

What this thread is meant to explore: the broader ramifications of morality in a supposed omniverse.

Alignment has broad implications, but is ultimately limited... but what if someone who embodied a good alignment in the world of Pathfinder arrived on our Earth? What would be the requirements for that creature?

For example, let's say than a Solar, as close to what functions in the monster manual as possible translated into real-world terms (even if it doesn't all work in real-world physics) arrived on earth. What would his moral obligations be? What would ours be towards such a creature? Would he be obligated to keep his own moral code (the alignment from which he is made) or would that be invalidated by arrival upon our world?

What does morality mean in a world like Pathfinder? In our own, for example, free will is generally considered sacrosanct. But what about in Pathfinder? What if one was able to, say, change worlds? Would our own morality hold weight in the universe of Pathfinder? Considering there are literal entities made of evil - what does that even mean? What about obligations?

For example: let's suppose a man or woman traveled to Golarion. What would their obligations to Earth be anymore? What is worth keeping or breaking in such circumstances? Buffy-verse? Shadowrun? The Marvel omniverse (either the movies or the comics)? The Game of Thrones world (I... don't recall right now)? An anime of some kind (choose one)? Middle Earth? Etc.

To be clear, there are a bunch of possible interpretations of "such circumstances":
- the John Carter type where you basically get a new body projected into this other world (kind of like astral projection, but you literally go live another life in another world; perhaps this means you have a body left behind in your old world or perhaps not; perhaps your body is the same as it was in the old world or, more like playing the game, perhaps you create your own sort of avatar (though unlike a game, you actively and actually inhabit said avatar)
- the idea of you, as you are now, physically removed from your current location and placed in Golarion; you... may have trouble with ability score prerequisites.
- you know how long you're there: could be limited but specific amount of time, could be variable based on conditions, could be a lifetime, could be forever
- you don't know how long you're there: could be a limited but specific amount of time, could be variable based on conditions, could be a lifetime, could be forever
- - "after" your time there (if it's limited/your not in the first other world forever) you head to yet another world or existence: what is(/are) your obligation(s) in that circumstance?
- other ideas that I've thought of before but am not coming up with now

I dunno - this has been banging around in my head for a while now. I figured I'd throw this out there and see what sticks. The rambling might be incoherent. I dunno. Seems interesting, though.

So... nothing?
