Primeval Thule Campaign Setting (PFRPG) Hardcover

Product Discussion

Sounds awesome.

Just bought this today. At the very least I'm hoping it'll make converting all that Conan material I've got from 3e a bit easier. Either way, it sounds kind of interesting.

We shall see.....

Hey! It is the same company that is producing the next mega-adventure for D&D 5th edition.

So what is a "heroic narrative"? Sounds like a 4e "theme".

Is it possible to overlay a heroic narrative over any class?

Certainly is. Kobols did the first, Sasquatch the second, looks like the DnD team (which lost 2 of the 15 staff recently) are farming out a lot of work.

Also can it be found out if SGS are going to offer a print/PDF bundle? And are Paizo looking at stocking the 13th Age version?

mach,

Pdfs of the book are available on DriveThruRPG.com in PRPG, 4th ed D&D, and 13th Age versions for $19.95 each. And I think the only way to have gotten a bundle would have been if you had helped fund their kickstarter for the book.

Thanks, yeah I was aware of that. I have the 13A one sitting in my cart at RPGNow and the PF book in my cart here, but will wait to pull the trigger and see if it gets bundled anywhere, you never know!

Well, SGS's website and Facebook page are way out of date. Nothing new on either of them since last August, not even anything for their new D&D work, so I do not know if contacting them would get you any more info.

Hey folks! David Noonan here. I'm one of the Sasquatches.

No plans at present for a print/PDF bundle. Right now we don't want to make too many plans for the print versions until the main shipment of books arrives (I'm literally watching an orange dot move slowly across the Pacific as I type this). We're cautious that way.

We do plan adventure support for Primeval Thule. As a matter of fact, I started primary layout on an adventure tonight. We'll make those available as PDFs. No timetable other than "soon," I'm afraid.

Thanks for dropping by! Good luck with this (and the Elemental Evil book too)

Hi there, Wolf -- Rich Baker here. Sorry we missed your question before! Yes, a heroic narrative is a lot like a 4e theme, or even a 2e character kit. Some may be odd fits for some classes--for example, I don't think that you would see many barbarians who become occult scientists or star-lore adepts. But if you can come up with a good story for the odd fit and you're not trying to optimize, then sure, it'll work.

Acquisitives

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

anybody got their hands on this yet for a preliminary look?

i just happened on it and it seems pretty cool from a thematic perspective.

I bought it, and I started reading it today. Mother of RPGs, this is good. If you enjoy Conan, you'll love Thule. By page 3, I was sold. Hope that helps Yakman.

Yeah, if you like Conan, you'll love this book. It is really well done, and I plan on buying anything else they put out in the future. I was part of the kickstarter, so I've read almost the whole thing now.

Liberty's Edge

Its not very detailed so a GM has a lot of room to add their own stuff in.

Mike

I wanted to get it in 13th Age, mainly cos I have tons of PF stuff and not much 13, but seeing as
A) only a third or so is crunch and
B) the reviews and stuff have been teasing me so much
I caved and added it with my next sub order.

Can't wait!

Did you end up getting the 13th Age PDF?

I'm also tempted to look at the 13th Age version, though it doesnt seem to be available on paizo.com yet. Hopefully that orange dot is moving ever closer...

No I am just getting the PF hardback, as said fluff is in the majority and it is easy to move from PF to my current system (5E)

No worries, thanks.

I wondered if there was much in there around the 13th age archetypes (or whatever they're called. The 'movers and shakers').

Icons I guess you mean. Looking at the preview on RPGNow they are not specifically called out in a section, maybe scattered throughout or under a different title (such as Factions)?

Icons! That was it. I quite like them. Cheers.
As you say, for 5E it won't really matter which ruleset I get.

I already have the PDF version of the PF Primal Thule Campaign Setting and will probably buy the physical copy.

My one question: is the book in full color like the PDF? If so, then expect me to order this as soon as I have some cash!

I'm pretty sure it is, but I'll let you know as soon as I get my KS copy, which should be here in a day, two at the most.

As a KS backer myself who has received his rewards, the hardcover I received is in full color and wonderful.

Most excellent! Thank you both for the reply!

For our "icons," take a look at Patrons and Enemies, page 71-73. We figured that the basic idea works just fine whether you're playing 13th Age, 4th Edition, or Pathfinder, and the same forces/individuals should be spotlighted regardless of which rules set you like.

Any chance that this product might "someday" be available for 5th Edition?
