Card Adventure Guild - succeeding at a scenario, what should happen?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

Okay, the group has won the scenario. How is one suppose to track the rewards and/or upgrades? I do see the store registered the game with my character online but alas nothing else as in upgrades, etc.

So how it is suppose to work, namely if I want to go to a different store and play with that character? Just seems that the cards upgrades and/or rewards would be online under the character, no? Is this a bug with the current system or what?

Thanks - I know that is a lot of questions but trying to close any possible issues as well.

Thomas

You should get a Chronicle sheet (they're at the end of the scenario that the store has). The Chronicle Sheet is the canonical data source, not whatever the online system reports. I believe the reporting system do allow you to record the updates, but because the coordinator can't take the sheets home, it's a bit of a hassle to properly record it online.

At the end of the scenario, the coordinator (the rep at the store) should sign the Chronicle sheet under "GM Initials" and you should record the deck upgrades along with whatever reward you received. There are boxes for all those.

I also tend to keep track of the same thing under my main profile until they get the system going so that you actually have PFSACG character profiles similar to your PFS RPG profiles.

The reporting system is very limited.

The new Session Sheet that was published today with the Guide Book tracks the upgrades and rewards better. But the reporting sheet only tracks the type and level of the upgrade. You should be tracking your actual card upgrades on your deck list. The coordinator can keep (and should keep) the session/reporting sheets.

Or you can use this handy dandy sheet I created to track your character:
PSACG Character Tracker

Grand Lodge

Or you can use the new official session sheet.

The session sheet is good, but it is for tracking events. Mine is for tracking characters. Technically, I'm using both. :)

Okay, that is what I thought. The GM took the Chronicle sheet and was thinking how does one track the rewards/upgrades, etc. I will use the above character tracker for future.

But still begs the question in regards to the online character of why have it if it just records the adventure w/o any regard to taking the reward and/or upgrades? Sure you can see if the character did that adventure but that is it - no way to see if they took the reward at the end or not. Is there a plan to include that info? Since one should be able to take their character to another official place to play but other than the GM looking at the character has played those scenarios but that is.

Thanks!
Thomas

Hmm...He shouldn't have taken the Chronicle Sheet. He should have filled it out and given it to you. That is your official record. While the thing tkpope made is nice, if someone was to be a stickler and say, "Prove to me what your character has done." Then you would pull out all your character's chronicle sheets. Granted, there is nothing to indicate you didn't forge them, and hopefully that never gets asked anyway, but the Chronicle Sheet is the official record.

The online tracking is helpful right now for data gathering. The designers can see which scenarios were too hard (and for which characters), which characters are being played the most, which are being played the least, all sorts of things. So while it might not help you, it will probably help them.

Yeah, the Chronicle sheet stays with the player/character. It is the same way in PFS RPG. The Chronicle sheet is the way one tracks the rewards and upgrades for the character. Once one Chronicle sheet is filled, you start another if you have not completed the adventure.

The GM/facilitator should be using the session sheets to track the actual "event" and the players and their success, rewards, and upgrades. That info goes into the online tracking.

Next time you play, get your Chronicle sheets back. If you would go to another store/venue, you'll need it.

Okay thanks. Thought something was amiss but didn't want to say anything until I got all the facts (plus thought maybe the online character would have that info - which it obviously didn't)

Oh! Thanks for pointing that out. I can see where that makes my sheet seem redundant, but it is more detailed than the chronicle sheet. Now, I'll be using all three sheets. More work for me, but I want to keep track of everybody else too (that is until we get more people playing in this area, and I can't manage it anymore). :)

tkpoke, suggestion based on what has worked for me...

I take a snapshot of the chronicle sheets with my phone at the end of the night so I have both a way to easily report them (now not as necessary with the updated reporting sheets) and also to see at a glance who has played what, who can replay for rewards, and who has frequently not gotten a good upgrade so I can defer to them when I play with them and we want the same card.

If you want to track individual cards I think you could ask your players if they would be willing to write in their upgrades as "item 1/handy haversack" for the sake of your photo library. Most of my players are naturally doing this anyway.

I have so many papers floating around that keeping separate sheets for every player myself quickly proved unwieldy. I've reported 15 sessions so far, and this has GREATLY streamlined the process.

NOG's suggestion is a good one. I have done the same. (Taking pictures of the chronicle sheets.).

I did create my own reporting sheet originally based on others I had seen posted. But the new ones tracks what you need to.

One note, though, is that it isn't required to track the actual card picked but the type and level. It is easier if you do but sometimes they want to think about which they'll choose.
