Natural attacks

Rules Questions

Can you choose to do non-lethal damage with Natural attacks as you can with Improved unarmed strike attacks?

As far as I know, not normally... But you could always take the -4 penalty to do non-lethal damage.

I was thinking it may be the same type of choice as improved unarmed strike, as they are compared together often.
I will take Bludgeoning feat.
I was hoping to free it up for something else.

I get what you were trying to accomplish. And I might even allow it in a home game, but as far as I know natural attacks do not allow the same switching around that improved unarmed strikes does.

One does need to ask, though...lol!
Thanks!

IUS makes the attacks lethal (normal unarmed strike is non lethal). As such you can choose to not use the lethal strike and instead use nonlethal damage.

Natural attacks are all lethal damage. As such, you can not just choose to be nonlethal. You need to take the -4 penalty to hit.

There is also a trait for worshipers of sarenrae (blade of mercy) that allows slashing weapons to deal nonlethal, and even get an extra +1 damage while doing so. A lot of the popular natural attacks (bite, claws....ok, just those two for the most part, but they are typically the bread and butter of NA builds) deal slashing damage.

The trait is PFS legal, if I remember correctly.

I've actually forgotten about that trait.
It would open up a feat.
Traits thus far: Accelerated drinker and and Highlander for the stealth. I can trade AD out for Blade of Mercy
Going with Alchemist[Trap breaker/Vivisectionist] non-PFS RotRl campaign.
Feats:
1.

enforcer:
Enforcer (Combat)
You are skilled at causing fear in those you brutalize.
Prerequisite: Intimidate 1 rank.
Benefit: Whenever you deal nonlethal damage with a melee weapon, you can make an Intimidate check to demoralize your target as a free action. If you are successful, the target is shaken for a number of rounds equal to the damage dealt. If your attack was a critical hit, your target is frightened for 1 round with a successful Intimidate check, as well as being shaken for a number of rounds equal to the damage dealt.
