Slow advancement track and modules

If I have character with one xp to go to level up and apply a 3 xp module can I put him on slow track after he levels up?

As far as I'm aware you can only switch tracks when you're exactly at the XP you need for a level, so you wouldn't be able to in that case.

"At character creation and each time your character gains a level, you decide if you would like your character to be on the standard or slow
advancement track for the entirety of that level." - Guide to Play

Doesn't talk about exact xp amounts. Just when they level. In this case he would level after getting the module credit. Although it puts him at 1 xp from leveling again. Rather break that up into two games so I don't level out of tier for a certain scenario.

Except there is no allowance for getting 2 XP and 2/3 gold from the module, barring missing part of it, which is what you'd need. Note the bit about "for the entirety of that level." You get all the module XP at once, taking you from mid one level to mid the next, with no chance to swap tracks.

Naw he can do it. Just feels weird is all. Like swallowing gum. I get your argument about the "entirety" part. but it doesnt really change much. Just means he has four games to next level instead of three or six. Makes me wonder if he will be losing out of earning gold because of it. Too tired to figure that out right now.

If you could point out the language that allows you to apply part of a chronicle at normal and part of it at slow, I would appreciate it.

The OP already did. but let me highlight my part of the argument.

but like I said, the "entirety" part, does make it sound like he can't. Though the "gains a level" part makes me believe that its just that simple. I see no harm in it, other than what I mentioned.

That language does not, in fact, state you can switch mid chronicle. From the guide:

Playing a module or sanctioned content from an Adventure Path from beginning to end earns a character 3 XP and 4 Prestige Points if that character is on the medium advancement track, or 1-1/2 XP and 2 Prestige Points for characters on the slow advancement track.

Nothing about splitting your chronicle.

Also, I found what I was looking for previously in that section. I dunno why I missed it before.

Ah that settles it then. Thank you.

Cool I was wrong.
