More Arushalae Ties [Spoilers]

Wrath of the Righteous

I have a player who is really interested in finding out who the woman from the Chance Encounter trait is/was, but doesn't want to take that trait. I had read a thread earlier that I cannot find via searching or combing through the threads here, where some effort had been made to tie Arushalae to the Exposed to Awfulness and Riftwarden Orphan traits.

As I recall, the poster had adjusted (or suggested so) Exposed to Awfulness so that Arushalae was the one to stop the demon from killing the PC - and this led to her imprisonment in Drezen.

The other adjustment for Riftwarden Orphans was something like… the parents had learned of a potentially redeemable demon, and had gone into the Worldwound to look for it. And this was one of the last memories they had, I think.

If someone can find me the link to the thread I'm referring to, I'd be grateful. I may have already covered exactly what was written, but if there's more I want to know.

I believe this is the post you're looking for, Thanis. It was posted by NobodysHome in the Wrath of the Righteous - A Failed AP thread (page 12):

Holy carp, I've started a trend! (I just followed the link and saw the 10 favorites. Wow!!!)

Yes. My four PCs were "Touched by Divinity", "Exposed to Awfulness", "Riftwarden Orphan", and "Child of the Crusades".

Just in case:

Since the "Touched by Divinity" character was a GMPC, I played it for tragic pathos rather than "Look at me, I'm a god's child!" So it was all about Iomedae regretting her decision to forsake her mortality before having a child, and creating a child within a paladin of hers who could not bear children. The child would be the paladin's by day, and Iomedae's by night in her dreams. So the GMPC constantly talked about going skinny dipping in the woods or walking on the beach to get ice cream with Iomedae. Not exactly canon, or appropriate for a warrior goddess. So she was shunned by others of her faith, and considered a goofy outcast. The party took pity on her and "adopted" her. Once they learned the truth, it was AWESOME. The next time one of the paladins of Iomedae disparaged her, the fighter challenged him to a duel and beat the living c**p out of him, declaring that anyone who insulted his cleric was insulting him.
The paladins have left her alone since then, and she's getting more powerful than any of the other clerics, so most of them are saying, "Hmm..."

I left "Child of the Crusades" alone just because I couldn't think of anything to do with it, but I did have Dear Old Dad as a zombie in the crypt, and the PC paid out of his own pocket for a Resurrection on Dad. Again, it's awesome roleplay as he's reporting his successes to dad, and dad is very proud.

As mentioned in the linked thread, "Exposed to Awfulness" had a memory of Jerribeth leaning over him, performing some horrific experiment before being interrupted by Arushelae.

And "Riftwarden Orphan" learned that her parents' "secret mission" was to protect and rescue Arushelae, and they gave their lives fighting Xanthir Vang so Arushelae could escape. It made the battle with him out-and-out epic.

It worked out beautifully, and my group loved it.

Let me know if you want any more details on anything...
