I keep getting "Could not connect to: alpha.goblinworks.com"

Also, I can't load the goblinworks website to check alpha forums.

Thanks in advance.

No - it isn't down - but connection problems are widespread. Unfortunately no pattern yet. Some players have no issues, some like me can connect but drop out often, some can't connect

Thod, I'm theorizing that there's an issue with the fact that the roundtrip is taking too long and something is timing out. That's just a theory right now. So far I don't have anyone in the US reporting the kinds of problems you're having from Europe.

Actualy here from Italy i'm not having connection problems, just a bit of lag when i'm changing hex, i played whit some friends (even they in Italy) and even they have only a bit of lag.

Thod could you PM me your IP address?

I had an issue last night. I kept hitting "Connect to Server" and kept getting "Failed to connect" messages in red. After about 5 attempts, I typed in my password and got in 1,2,3 :) Thus confirming that password protection does, in fact, work.

I am in the US...with a decent but not exactly fast DSL connection in the mountains of North Carolina. I still have intermittent issues getting in.

I have three places I connect from (taking the same laptop and install with me) and one is far worse than the other two despite all three being fiber broadband to the premises.

All three connections play EVE and other games fine but PFO is almost unplayable on one and perfect on the other two.

No problems with Alpha 7.

It seems that Alpha 8 is very very VERY sensitive to any lag or slight momentary interruption to the service, if the connection drops even for a fraction of a millisec the game seems to lose the plot.

So its not the speed of connection that is an issue a lot of the time it is QoS and at present PFO is far more touchy about Qos than most other games.

It was pretty much unplayable for me (from Australia) last I was on.

Earlier I was able to run around, kill some goblins, die a few stupid deaths and so on. More recently I can't even get the trainers to tell me what they train.

I know my way around TCP/IP, and would be happy to provide more details when I'm home again (at work now).

I am in Australia as well.

That could be interesting. my uneducated impression is that where in other games lag causes stutters that may get you killed but the game recovers, in PFO internet issues cause the game to lose the plot entirely.

I just wanted to say thank you to Ryan and anyone else who was working on this issue. I was finally able to get back in and play last night, after having PM'ed my IP address to Ryan on Tuesday evening. Seeing this kind of response is very encouraging and holds lots of promise for the future.

Thanks again!
