submission question

Society Scenario Submissions

This is my first time submitting a scenario. I noticed the 2,000 word limit, with the explaination of a 1 hr adventure. Scerarios are 4 hrs and tend to have about 10k words. So I am unsure how the submitions work. Are we writing part of a scenario, or a synopsis? What am I missing?

Paizo Employee Developer

The Open Call submission is a Quest, which is a mini-adventure designed to be run in about one hour. For most, that means a quick adventure hook, a little bit of roleplaying/negotiation/investigation, and a combat encounter. The submission is not a pitch for a full scenario.

A Quest submission gives me a fairly solid sense of an author's strengths, weaknesses, style, and ability to replicate Paizo's formatting and stylistic nuances. From there I can decide how best to proceed with that author, whether that means politely declining that particular submissions, providing feedback with a recommendation to resubmit, assigning the author a few smaller projects to further polish that person's writing, jumping straight to a full scenario assignment, or anything in-between.

Thank you John for the quick response, and information. I understand now. Just out of curiosity, are these quests used in society? I ask because I have not seen or heard on them.

With a bit of research, I have answered my own question. Thank you again John
