What pairs well with an Arcanist?

Advice

Liberty's Edge

So, me and my friend are playing PFS together, and we want to play characters that go together. He wants to play an Arcanist, possibly a blackblade. I will pretty much play anything other than a sorcerer, because I don't really like that play style (though Oracle is okay). He can play something else, but he really likes Arcanist. What pairs well with that, both thematically and power-wise? Thanks.

Just for reference, in PFS, as an arcanist he'll never actually be able to hit anything with the blackblade if he takes it.

It's a great flavor concept, but PFS is less flavor friendly especially with the APL +3-4 season 6 games, meaning a low BAB character with low HP will be majorly disadvantaged in melee.

Other than that, a martial type would complement the arcane caster, I'm a big fan of the Warpriest, the Brawler, and Hunter to give you both a meatshield.

Yeah, I'm going to try to convince him not to be a blackblade, but that makes you either crap or MAD, so... What about a druid? I like Hunter, but I think I like Druid more, just because I'm more familiar with it.

Druid is always strong, frankly there is nothing else to say about them. Too bad that I heard PFS doesn't allow the animal soul feat.

That's a shame. But if I build something of a "warrior" druid (protector of the forest style crap) that's two meatsheilds for my arcanist buddy.

Right now, we're a sorcerer cavalier combo, but I'm too far ahead of him, and I'm gettin' sick of not being able to do higher tier games. I've been wanting to make a druid, so this might be my chance.
