As a follow up to our Racial Guide 2.5 Halfbreeds and Hybrids we are proud to announce Racial Guide 3: Races of Darkness! This installment focuses on new races found primarily in and around the underdark. The book is loaded with lore (politics, geology, culture, etc), new mechanics (darkness as a terrain type for example), 15 deities (ever wonder what a troll deity was like?), 15 new racial weapons, kobold line guns (siege and no-siege), 17 new feats, and...

Player Race Options:

  • Arachno (Drider)
  • Dark Folk
  • Derros
  • Kabouters
  • Kobolds: Jaksear
  • Kobolds: Svarik
  • Pechs
  • Sunkids
  • Trolls

We’ve also got your class needs covered!

  • Ancestral Bloodline Sorcerer
  • Black Widow: A cursed prestige that mutates you into a spider abomination!
  • Bloodseekers: Drow anti-paladin archetype.
  • Cave Stalker: A underground svirfneblin ranger archetype.
  • Dark Hunter: A duergar ranger archetype that overcomes their racial weakness to sunlight!

Look for it this weekend! However, if our Patreon hits $60 we will release it early! (If you like LRGG’s material, check it out!)

In other news, we are in the process of revising Racial Guide 1. It’s getting polished up and re-released. Anyone who bought it previously will be getting a free copy of this expanded book free! It was one of our earliest projects and I really think there is a lot to offer there!

Looking forward to this, though I seem to recall you guys mentioning a racebook with unorthodox races, like a swarms and oozes; is that still in the works or has this one taken its place?

Either way this book is on my must own list.

No, this was a long in the works book.

So it looks like our schedule is like:
    -Necropunk APG
-Dragon Tiger Ox Update (backer reward expansion)

Then we have two kind of "non-traditional" books.
Both are working titles but one is a Non-Traditional Race book and the other has the development title of "Exotic Martial Book".

The Non-Traditional Race Book (NTRB) has about 30 player races in it.
    We have in that book:

    • A playtest balanced huge size player race
    • Living intelligent weapons
    • Desert ferengi elves
    • Animated marionette
    • A race of sentient hive-mind quasi-swarm creatures
    • Small sized arctic, seafaring, wookies with horns
    • Wugs. Just wugs. (We have "lucha-wug" artwork as well as the wuggy wizard).

That is in the art stage at the moment and we are looking at how we want to launch that (we have to spend a lot of money on art for that one).

    "Exotic Martial Book"
The EMB is kind of our version of Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved in that it takes a very different look at the way the game can be played (sort of like a more serious "Gonzo"). It presents a LOT of alternate rules, a LOT of new feats, and about a dozen new classes (base, prestige and an archetype). It really focused on combat and new ways to make it interesting/ FEEL unique.

Excellent! I want all of these, can't wait; I am especially interested in your Exotic Martial Book- lately traditional combat has been lacking for me, to the point I added a vitality subsystem to the game to give more varied actions in combat.

    Indeed.
There are LOTS of optional sub-systems in this books and the classes presented have unique takes on combat that haven't been seen thus far.

So this book is delayed tonight due to me (Scott) being sick as heck and not finishing the credits or OGL sections of the book earlier this week. It will be launched as soon as I am well.

Alright; get better Scott and keep up the good work!

PS: Before I forget to mention I loved the Gonzo PDF, especially the craven and the punk.

We actually got a lot of very positive feedback on that book.
I was actually really concerned it was going to flop and not go over well- kind of a gamble. Glad to hear you enjoyed it :-)

When do you anticipate releasing the Necropunk APG?

That is the next book on the cutting block after this one (which should be going up at lunch today).

We had to do some extensive rewrites in the ship section that are going though final editing right now. After that I need to format it.

    Now live!

If you backed our Patreon page, you now have it as well (just check for new creations!)!

    The Golem's got it (Link)!
