The fur baby has been fairly well-behaved for just over two weeks now. Something is either very wrong, or very right. Or she's just lulling us into a very false sense of security before unleashing hell.

Scarab Sages

As I was out and about for my usual Friday lunchtime errands, I randomly decided to stop at Spec's, the booze place. I typically don't like to shop there because for beer lovers their selections is...less than adequate.

Okay, it actually sucks.

Still, I did manage to find some Founders Breakfast Stout and Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Haven't had either of those in quite some time.

Scarab Sages

Granted, I also don't drink as much as I used to. Getting old will do that. At best, I'll have maybe two beers in a night. VERY rarely more than that. And if I do drink, it's only on the weekend. And almost never on Sunday.

Scarab Sages

I don't even truly like to drink on Friday nights, if only because I have too much to do on Saturday mornings.

Scarab Sages

And I at least had some work waiting for me this morning. Several drawings and a 3D model that needed to be checked. There were some minor errors that needed correcting. Plus a few simple things to add.

The upside being I got to call my co-worker via Teams and harass him just after 8 am this morning. Bet he didn't have that on his bingo card.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of coworkers....

My supervisor is going on vacation next week. He and his family are going to Antigua. I told him if he sees Timothy Dalton (who has a home there, apparently), to get his autograph.

He asked me who Timothy Dalton was.

Scarab Sages

Seriously?!? How can you not know who Timothy Dalton is?!? Da hell?

Damned whippersnappers.

Scarab Sages

And now my wife is freaking out because Revenge of the Sith is going to be 20 years old this year.

She should try having two of her favorite movies approaching 50 years of age. Jaws will be this year, and Star Wars: A New Hope will be in two years.

Scarab Sages

A remember A New Hope when it was just Star Wars.

Scarab Sages

Pepperidge Farm probably remembers.

Scarab Sages

Not sure if I mentioned it already, but I was tempted to take bets on which place I'd spend more money this weekend: The Scout Shop or the comic book store.

Scarab Sages

I already know I'll spend just over $460 at the Scout Shop. It's the only downside to encouraging more rank advancement and merit badge earning. That stuff has been getting more expensive over the last few years. Chalk it up in part to the national organization needing the money.

Scarab Sages

So then it'll just be a matter of if the comic book store has any new goodies for me. Or maybe I'll just go crazy and finally pull the trigger on that FF #48.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of comics....I really need to check with the guy I ordered my new comic storage unit from. He initially said about 16 weeks, which would have put my order being ready in the first week or two of April. Now we're close to the end of the month and I haven't heard anything.

Luckily, I'm patient. Plus I know from his FB posts the dude's father passed away, which probably put a dent in his schedule. And thankfully, I'm not truly in much of a hurry.

Scarab Sages

I should also seriously look into getting rid of some of the books in my collection. Something I won't miss too much.

Although, with all the recent excitement over the Alien and Predator franchises (something that mystifies me) I should hold on to all those old Dark Horse comics.

Scarab Sages

Speaking further of comics....

Today might be a good day to get some back issue reading accomplished. I've still got a nice stack of Captain America comics to work through. The original.

Scarab Sages

For now, however, it's almost time for my afternoon coffee.

We have a store here you might like. It's called "Beers Of The World". :-)

Scarab Sages

Oooohhhhh....shiny!

Scarab Sages

There is a better chain I used to visit often, called Total Wine and More. The first one I found and visited was in Delaware, just a little ways down the interstate from the old Navy Shipyard I worked at in Philly.

There are several of them in the area around me now. The closest one is just down the road from my comic book store. I used to go there quite a bit, but there's a lot of construction in the area right now. Not worth going to at the moment.

Anyway, Total Wine has a pretty awesome selection of beers, at least two or three rows worth.

Scarab Sages

Happy Saturday!

Scarab Sages

Hungover Saturday as well. Not too bad, though. I just had a few beers while watching the last two episodes of Alice in Borderland. Then I started on the first season of Squid Game.

Scarab Sages

Alice in Borderland was weird, but cool. I liked most of the characters, although the lead dude could be an annoying wuss at times. The final fight against the King of Spades was f-ing brutal. Season 3 comes out in a few months, and I'm looking forward to that, though I don't know how they're going to continue it. It ended pretty well.

Scarab Sages

Squid Game is equally weird so far. I'm through the first two episodes so far. The lead character is kind of a tool, but there are glimmers of the potential for redemption. He seems to at least genuinely care for his daughter.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, with all the TV watching I've been doing through mostly Netflix, I keep being reminded why it pretty much won the streaming wars.

Scarab Sages

So this morning is nice and cloudy so far, though warm. It's supposed to get sunny later on today. We'll see.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, today should be a mostly typical Saturday. I'll hit the grocery store. I'll hit the comic book store.

Scarab Sages

One extra - Before I hit the comic book store I have to stop at the Scout shop to pick up the order for Court of Honor on Tuesday. Since I don't know how long that's going to take, there's a good chance the wife will have to pick up the girl from her art class.

Scarab Sages

There may be another extra later this afternoon. I need more clear light bulbs for the fixture in this front room where I keep the computer. I used up the last one yesterday.

I could get that today, but don't necessarily have to. I'm making some extra trips around tomorrow, so could always pick them up then. I doubt the other four lights will all burn out between now and then.

Scarab Sages

Now I should go find some wood to knock on.

Young folk round these parts probably don't know that phrase.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That's two days in a row I think I've used that alias. I should probably use it more. It suits me far too well.

Scarab Sages

Damnation and hellfire! The scout shop had every bit of my order…..except 6 Sustainability Merit Badges. Thankfully, I have a plan…..

Scarab Sages

It’s not necessarily a great plan, but it is a good plan. And one that should, in theory, work quite well.

Scarab Sages

Tonight, there shall be chicken wings. Baked chicken wings. After having marinated in a buffalo style mixture.

Mmmmmm…..chicken wings.

Scarab Sages

Damn those squirrels. They keep raiding my bird feeder.

Scarab Sages

And why? Oh why? Can we not have a 4K edition of The 13th Warrior?!? Where’s the justice in denying me such cinematic goodness?!?

Scarab Sages

Why, yes! That is completely random. Sometimes, it’s what I do best. Despite my love of and preference for a nice, orderly world.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday!

Scarab Sages

It's a beautiful, bright, sunshiny day here in the neighborhood! Although I do have a bit of a headache from the beer I drank last night.

Scarab Sages

I did sleep well, though. Very well, in fact.

Scarab Sages

Bought some new lights at the scout shop yesterday. They were tax free, and at least one of them was heavily discounted. The first was a recharging version of the collapsing lantern I bought a few months back. The second was a (very bright) flashlight from the same company who makes the lantern. It has a zoom feature and is waterproof.

Scarab Sages

Even better, my boy has inherited my love of flashlights. Huzzah for something he got from me.

Scarab Sages

Now if only I could get him that interested in earning his Eagle Rank....

Scarab Sages

Speaking of scouts....

Later this evening we've got to go over to the church so he can help with the trailer cleanout.

Scarab Sages

Before that, however, I've got plenty to get done here at home. I'll get the boy to help me with some of it.

We've got to do some cleanup work in the front yard. There's some trim work that needs doing on various trees and bushes. I've also got to spray weed killer on the stuff attempting to take over the sidewalks and driveway.

Then later this morning we've got to go over to HEB for some very specific things. Things for Court of Honor on Tuesday. Mostly plates, snacks, and bottled water. We should have plenty of napkins. We've also got a bunch of plastic forks, but I don't think we'll need those.

Scarab Sages

After all that, but before we go over to the church, I've got to organize all the awards for Court of Honor. Or, at least, get started on it.

And I should really finish up the script.

Scarab Sages

In the meantime, I can enjoy a second (and likely third) cup of coffee.

Scarab Sages

I have also come to the conclusion that not refilling the tank on the Keurig should be punishable by some legal action. Maybe a fine.
