So…..it looks like the bosses got us Christmas gifts.
One is an insulated drinking cup with the company logo. That’s pretty cool. Although I’ve really got enough of that kind of thing. Looks like it might hold about 12 ounces. The opening to drink out of doesn’t seal, though. So I wouldn’t want to be driving with it.
The other gift seems to be……a stand for the cell phone?!? Wtf?!?!? That’s f@&$ing lame. When would I ever find something like that to be useful? Seriously lame. I’m tempted to throw it in the trash.

On the plus side, I pretty much finished the main quest on The Video Game Which Must Not Be Named. All that’s left is to prepare for the end of 5th year exams (named after a certain nocturnal bird of prey).
There’s also a bunch of side quests and exploration still to do. I went through some of that last night. Not sure how much more I’ll do.

I bought bg3 not knowing that I was getting the early access version, but I started playing it anyway. At the time my 2017 iMac met the requirements. Then the full version came out and suddenly bg3 was a pig. Checked the requirements and the iMac is no longer good enough. So I bought an M2 Mac mini, which I hope to get set up this weekend. In the meantime I’m playing bg1 enhanced.

Well, after beating the main antagonist in The Video Game Which Must Not Be Named, I played another day or two just finishing up some side quests and exploring. Last night I moved ahead with the final two quests: reviewing the school year with the deputy headmistress, then a combo fifth year tests/end of term feast.
The gam lets you keep on exploring apparently, but I don’t really feel like it. The few side quests I know about are ones I had no desire to finish. And exploring is tiring. So I think I’m done with it for now.

Aberzombie wrote:I saw it this week. 100% recommend.Might take the boy to see Godzilla Minus One today. I’ve been adverse to going to theaters for movies that are too long, but everything I’ve heard about this movie says it’s awesome.
And the boy really wants to go see it.
Yeah, we ended up seeing it yesterday morning. I thought it was awesome. Now I’m recommending it to all my co-workers. Except the ones I know don’t like reading subtitles.

Speaking of Stoopid Old Man Brain…..
As I’ve gotten older and experienced more of just how horrible pretty much all human beings are (to one degree or another), my ability to maintain a positive attitude has diminished to practically nil. The often times uncaring or even vindictive-seeming nature of the Universe doesn’t help either.
Which means that it’s more difficult for me to even enjoy holidays anymore. At best they merely give me a slightly easier way to temporarily distract myself from the generally crappy nature of life.

Happy Holidays to me! No work (in theory, anyway) until next Wednesday. Granted, that meant me staying a little late at the office yesterday, just to make sure one particular set of drawings was correctly redlined. Still, it’s nice to know I don’t have much to do over the next few days, unless I want to.

Even better, on the way out the door from work yesterday, I got a call from the office of my new GI doctor. One of my tests came back positive for a certain type of bacteria in my gut, so he called me in a prescription.
One visit and a few simple tests, and this new doctor is already helping. Huzzah!

In other news, my wife theoretically took vacation all this last week. So while I was working, she was supposed to work on the remaining gifts for the children.
Needless to say, that didn’t happen.
So now I spent part of yesterday scrambling to figure out what other gifts we can get them. Managed to find a Barnes & Noble that has copies of these Avatar The Last Airbender graphic novel type omnibuses, so at least we have more gifts for my daughter. I’ll probably try to hit a few other places. Just to be sure.

And I’ve got to do grocery shopping. My GI system still isn’t up to snuff (I’ve only taken three doses of my new medicine), so my stomach probably won’t be up to much, but I had an idea for something mild(ish) that at least the wife and I can eat.
If I’m lucky, maybe I could even get my daughter to try some. She’s somewhat adventurous when it comes to food.
The boy is pretty much a lost cause when it comes to food. He’s super picky and refuses to try new things. It’s kind of pathetic, really. But I blame myself mostly. I should have been a bit more ruthless when he was younger.

Got a lot done yesterday. Last minute gift shopping. Grocery shopping (damn that bill was high). Cleaned the stove and microwave. Reorganized and somewhat cleaned the front room. Vacuumed the stairs. Got the kidlets to clean upstairs, including the boy running the vacuum without even asking (I was amazed he thought of it). Got the wife to actually clean something (dinner table).
