Otherwise, the sun is shining. The sky is blue. And, I'm stuck home with the wife and kids because stoopid holiday.

Can't think of anything I have to do today that might take me out of the house. Maybe I can go for my usual walk - unless one of the kidlets screams about wanting to come with me, in which case I would have to not go.

Scarab Sages

I guess I shall have to wander the house and see what's going on.

Scarab Sages

Or, I can just sit here and wait for random thoughts to escape my mind via my fingers.

Scarab Sages

Is it just my computer, or has the Paizo website been sucking big, hairy, goat balls lately?

I suspect it's the former.

In what way?

Scarab Sages

Whiny kids because I turned off the lights in the upstairs play area. We've got enough natural light coming in through the windows.

And this is one reason why I hate such holidays.

Scarab Sages

I especially enjoy when baby girl rolls around on the floor, whining and fake crying. I typically mimic and mock her.

Scarab Sages

When your kids are engaged in potentially injurious behavior, it's important to let them know, if they do hurt themselves, that you will first point at them and laugh, before treating their injury.

Scarab Sages

F~!$ you, Princess Elena. You and your idiotic friends and lame ass Scepter of Light. And here I thought Disney had reached the height of annoying with Sofia the First.

Scarab Sages

Oh joy! A n00b?

Scarab Sages

Random Thought - The Angry Birds movie is f$!&ing hilarious. Especially the introduction of MIGHTY EAGLE!

Scarab Sages

Apparently, my voice is making the boy's eye hurt. Not sure how that works.

Been here a while, just fired up a new forum ID to get away from unwanted baggage.

Scarab Sages

Paradox. Why'd it have to be a paradox?

Scarab Sages

My mom keeps asking me when we're driving in for that wedding, and I keep telling her I have no idea. Nor do I care to have any idea. For me, it's going to suck balls either way.

Scarab Sages

I suppose I could do something useful today.

Scarab Sages

Although, the lure of sitting on my ass and entering a deep vegetative state is very strong.

Scarab Sages

Except, of course, I won't give in to apathy (at least not too much). I'm too much of a man to do that.

Scarab Sages

At least, with the kidlets back in school, I can go for my morning constitutional.

Scarab Sages

And, sadly, I must go to the store and pick up a belated birthday card for my nephew. With everything else going on, I had forgotten it was his birthday this weekend.

Scarab Sages

It's harder and harder to bury the crap these days.

Scarab Sages

On the other hand......coffee.

Scarab Sages

I'm sad to say this, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Russia can do something the USA has been unable to accomplish. Come on oil prices!

Scarab Sages

I do believe I'm out of ice cream. This situation must be rectified!

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, how the f#@$ am I supposed to indulge in ice cream after my children are in bed?

Scarab Sages

And yes, I do later torment them with that knowledge. I am a bad daddy in that regard.

In fact, just last week, I took a picture of myself eating a frosted sugar cookie, then hid the remaining cookies away and told the kidlets I had eaten them all.

An, lo! There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Scarab Sages

Sometimes, fun is where you find it.

Scarab Sages

I am feeling surprisingly chipper this morning.

Scarab Sages

Watched the Director's Cut of Wrath of Khan last night. There doesn't really seem to be a whole lot added. Happily, I don't give a f@+@. It's still an awesome movie. Best of all the Trek films.

Scarab Sages

Looks like we'll be driving in to New Orleans this evening. Oh joy!

In other news, it looks like I'll be stopping buy the store to pick up some 5-hour energy drink. Normally, I don't bother with crap like that, but it is useful on a drive like this.

Scarab Sages

In other news, and to no one's surprise at all, my wife used our forthcoming journey as another excuse to not go in to the office.

There were two frosted sugar cookies left, and I suddenly craved one for breakfast. So, of course, I had to eat the other one in order to prevent my children from fighting over it.

I'm such a wonderful father.

I'm tempted to bring a bottle of mead with me to this wedding. I want to try and convince the bride and groom to partake of some, as a sort of pagan fertility ritual.

Scarab Sages

Nice wedding. Church was pretty decent. Ceremony was relatively short. Priest was on the youngish side, and it showed. His homily was a bit depressing.

Reception was nice. Good food. Decent booze. And, even though it was outside, it wasn't too hot.

Scarab Sages

At the reception hall, they had the wrong name for the groom in the sign directing everyone to the proper area. Needless to say, I captured the error in a photo.....for posterity, of course.

Scarab Sages

The happy couple shall forever be known to me as Mr. and Mrs. Perez.

Scarab Sages

The groom's real last name is Purvis.

Scarab Sages

Back home today, after spending a thankfully easy day driving yesterday. Had to get the wife to take over for an hour or so, though. Stoopid shoulder problems.

Scarab Sages

Forgot to mention - the wedding we went to on Friday was live-streamed to a pub in Ireland, where the groom has mucho family. A few of them were actually in attendance in Louisiana. I understand the "heat" was harsh on them.

Scarab Sages

Apparently, the wife ordered a new desktop for the house. Seems I have something to do today.

Scarab Sages

I might be driving back to NOLA some time in the next day or so. A great uncle passed away on Saturday morning. He was pretty cool. Used to see him all the time growing up.

So, depending on when the wedding is, and what the wife's schedule looks like the rest of the week, I may drive back in for the funeral.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, it seems to be coffee time.

Scarab Sages

I've been considering going back in to stay with my mom for a week or so anyway. She really needs someone to go through the garage and my dad's workshop. We've got to start cleaning s!&* out, throwing s%&~ away, maybe organizing a garage sale.

Scarab Sages

Among my brothers, I am (sadly) the only one who currently has the time to do so.

Scarab Sages

I applaud the f~&@ing genius who first convinced hot chicks they should strip nekkid and have clothes just painted on them.

F@+~ing brilliant.

Scarab Sages

Soooo....dropping the kids off at daycare this morning, and the driver of the bus which brings the boy to his regular school tells me the boy told her I met mommy when she jumped out of a cake.

And now you know exactly the kind of thing to say to me to render me temporarily speechless.

Scarab Sages

I saw a link on Facebook showcasing Dark Crystal Action Figures. Between that and the mini-Nintendo thing holding tons of old games, my Christmas list just might be set.

So, the other day I mentioned my great uncle had passed away over the weekend. Today my brother and I were talking about him.

He was, of course, in WWII. Served in the Navy. During one of his ship's voyages, he was knocked overboard (during a storm, if I recall correctly). He then spent three days lost at sea, with just some lashed together debris from the ship keeping him afloat, no food, no water.

His brother (who died several years ago), was a bomber pilot in the European theater. He was shot down and spent over a year as a "guest" of the Germans, torture included.

Both men went on to raise families and have fairly good lives. Granted, there were problems, but nothing that wasn't overcome.

It got my brother and I thinking - this is a big part of the reason why they are often referred to as the Greatest Generation.

One thing I loved about both of them - they were pretty straight forward in speaking their minds. No pussy-footing around. No PC garbage. Then again, a lot of people from that time are much the same.

Scarab Sages

Woot! Picked up the Captain America: Civil War movie on Bluray. Walmart had it on sale. Gonna be popcorn (or ice cream) and movie night once the kidlets are in bed this evening.
