The Power of Kord compels you!
Don't look at me. I just drive the boat.
passes through like an errant breeze
All righty. I guess that's enough of that.
Found out a little while ago that a co-worker passed away early this morning. She had pneumonia. Very sad. She was a really nice person.
I've ended up deciding to take off work on Friday, since almost no one else is planning to be here anyway. Also, it's supposed to be crappy rain weather.
Which, of course, means I may just have to take down my Christmas decorations today. Otherwise I'd have to leave them up for another week.
The boy was, unfortunately, already awake when I left the house this morning. I say 'unfortunately' because he didn't like seeing me leave and started crying.
I can at least take comfort in the fact that his sorrow likely did not last long after my departure. Being a child and having the attention span of a goldfish can be a benefit in that way.
And now I shall go do stuff, while debating exactly how long I'm gonna stay here today.
I hear you on that I am completely not motivated to work today.
I am staying till 11 am because it leaves the illusion that I care. I also took friday off. I am a firm believer in the 4 day weekend.
Stoopid, f!@*ing incompetent USPS. Can't even manage a "guaranteed delivery by". And people wonder why I feel the whole damned thing should be either privatized completely, or just dismantled outright.
A successful, and delicious, first use of my smoker! I did chicken thighs and legs. First I marinated them overnight in a mix of zesty Italian dressing, orange juice, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. Then I smoked them for about 4 hours.
Mmmmm......
Next up.....methinks some pork ribs.
Make jerky! That is I need to smoke more jerky....
The day is starting off rainy, but the sun's supposed to come out later this afternoon.
Tomorrow, the Christmas decorations come down.
Picked up The Equalizer with Denzel Washington on Bluray the other day. Watched it last night. Just as awesome as I remember.
The wife and I also took advantage of our Friday off with kids in daycare. Had a nice lunch together at Wacky Mongolian, did some store visits to pick up needed items here and there, then came home and watched Guardians of the Galaxy.

A good day - slept in a bit, gave myself a haircut, took the boy to get his haircut, set some pork finger ribs to smoking, washed clothes, took down my Christmas decorations, the finally ate said ribs for dinner.
Now it's time to give the kidlets their baths and get them to bed. After that, maybe a bit of relaxation.
All is (relatively) quiet now. Finishing off my night with a bottle of Firestone Walker's Velvet Mocha Merlin, a coffee infused oatmeal stout. It's variation on their usual Velvet Merlin.
Good beer last night. And now I'm caught up on all my comic book reading. Next up - finish off The Redemption Engine.
'Twas a bit chilly this morning - 32 degF according to my phone. No ice on the cars though. Ice is to afraid to come to Texas very often.
Or, it was just really windy.
We're supposed to get some more at or below freezing temps this month. Fine by me. Helps cut down on the skeeter population. Plus, temps in the 20s and 30s really aren't that bad.
Today for lunch - leftover stew.
Tonight for dinner - red beans and rice.
I'm trying to work out a newish dinner system with the wife. I told her I wanted to put more regularity into our evening meals. This is what I'm thinking so far:
Sunday - steak or pork chops or stew
Monday - Slow-cooker meal (red beans is the best example)
Tuesday - Pizza or leftovers from weekend
Wednesday - Spaghetti w/ meat sauce
Thursday - rotisserie chicken from HEB or leftovers from Monday
Friday - seafood.
Saturday - cook something or go out.
Some people may wonder - Why the "Good News" thread? Think of it as one more weapon in my arsenal of positivity. There just seems to be a steady increase in the negative nancy crap on this once beloved website. I've seen it drive too many good people away. So, I'm trying to counter all that bad karma.
Will it work? Who knows? In the end, it doesn't really matter to me, because my life is awesome. If other people don't want their lives to be awesome, that's their problem.
And...now I have to do some quick research to see where the phrase 'negative nancy' comes from.
A brief search yields....nothing useful. This may require more effort that I care to expend.
Oh f@&~ it. Who gives a flying crap?
Dentist time today. Going to get a long standing problem fixed up.
I love my new dentist. The dude is friendly, professional, and doesn't shy away from the pain killers.
Also, another chilly morning. Temps near freezing! WOOT! Kill them Skeeters!!!
Wednesday night's low is supposed to be around 28 or so! Kill them SKEETERS!!! Kill 'em dead!!!
Yet again, I find myself having to re-hide old troll threads. WTF?!? Does the Hide feature have a shelf life?
