Scarab Sages

At least I had a good night's sleep each night this week. Although that's only because I slept out on the sofa every night.

Scarab Sages

We did at least end up completing that IFC drawing package yesterday. So there's that. And I was able to get the hydrotest documents completed as well. After the PM reminded me about them, that is.

Today I've got to complete what's called a PAL - Pre-Assessment Letter. It's the documentation that goes along with a Hot Tap. Those are...fun.

Which reminds me....I've got to check and see if we even have all the necessary information to actually complete the PAL. The big thing I need is details on the existing line we're tapping, plus the details on the split tee.

Fun times.

I’m considering introducing the boy to Pacific Rim tonight. I think he’d like it.

Scarab Sages

Happy Saturday!

Scarab Sages

I'm gonna roll with that, despite not feeling all that well and having a surprise tooth issue.

Scarab Sages

It's weird. I was indulging in a rare cup of ice cream last night, and accidentally bit down on a chunk of ice cream on one side of my mouth. There was a brief flare of discomfort, and now that tooth is very sensitive to hot and cold. Not sure if I shocked it, or something else is going on. I have an appointment already scheduled for next Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to hold out until then.

Scarab Sages

Still, I did successfully introduce the boy to Pacific Rim. I think he liked it, but not as much as some of the other movies I've shown him.

Scarab Sages

And, hey! The sun is shining! It's a little cool now, but is going to get up into the 70s at some point.

Scarab Sages

And yesterday was a good work day. I finished up the HDD calcs my buddy asked me for. I also finished up the PAL form that other coworker needed. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

My doctor appointments went well also. There was even some humor involved. And some polite, good natured, adult conversation.

Scarab Sages

Today I get to go harass the people at the comic book store.

Scarab Sages

Let's face it, anytime someone has to communicate with me, it should probably be considered harassment. I'm an a-hole.

Scarab Sages

But a lovable a-hole.

Scarab Sages

The technician who did the ultrasound on my legs was telling me about these ear buds that can actually translate for you. She said she was thinking about getting them because her fiancée is from Puerto Rico and when he and his family speak Spanish she can't understand them.

Scarab Sages

And at least I get my coffee this morning. Yesterday I had to hold off all caffeine until after my testing was done. So when I got home in the afternoon I had two cups of coffee.

Mmmmm....coffee.

Scarab Sages

Me at the comic book store after they announce my total

“Well, those ain’t no rookie numbers.”

Scarab Sages

Stoopid tooth!

Scarab Sages

Not sure why I didn’t think of this until today - the wife has access to some neighborhood app where people can post stuff. So I had her post something about the boy selling mulch for his scout troop. Hopefully, we’ll get some sales from that.

Meanwhile, later this afternoon I’ll have the boy walk around the neighborhood and knock on doors to sell.

Tomorrow, he’s got two shifts outside the church for selling when mass lets out.

Scarab Sages

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Scarab Sages

I sent the boy out into the neighborhood. He came back over an hour later. Had one definite sale, and another who said they’d order online. It’s better than nothing, and I’m proud of him for making the effort.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday!

Scarab Sages

It started off a little cool, but warmed up nicely. And we've got plenty of sunshine!

Scarab Sages

And it's already been a busy day for us. We had shifts outside the church this morning at the exit time for two different masses. Trying to sell mulch. We didn't get many takers, just one lady who noted our website so she could order online.

Scarab Sages

In between the two shifts, we stayed for the 9 O'clock mass for Scouting Sunday. There were a ton of other scouts and scout leaders of all ages also attending.

Scarab Sages

My brother and his wife were there, with my two nieces. It was nice to see them. It'd been awhile. My son is taller than his aunt now, and is just a few inches shy of my brother.

Scarab Sages

Now we're back home for the day. And I've got more than enough to do around here.

The wife mopped and did one load of laundry while I was gone. I just started another load. I'll finish up the remaining loads sometime after lunch. I've got to save at least one load for after the boy wanders the neighborhood again trying to sell more mulch. Once he's done that, I can wash his uniform.

Other than laundry, I've got some dishes to wash. I might try to do a bit more general cleaning as well. And maybe some bagging and boarding.

Scarab Sages

Of course, the bagging and boarding will also probably come with some reading.

Scarab Sages

I had mentioned my brother's friend has a son in college studying (petroleum) engineering. The kid is looking for a summer internship, and it just so happens we're trying to get our intern stuff up and running again at my office. So I told my brother to get me the kid's resume.

My brother gave the kid my work email address, and the kid sent me his resume. The email he sent was funny, as he started it off with the word "Howdy". In the body of the email he refers to my brother as Uncle George.

Anyway, I'll pass his resume on to my supervisor. The kid stands a good chance of being hired. I don't think we have any other candidates.

Last night I started watching a Netflix show one of my coworkers had told me about. It's called American Primeval, and it's set in late 1850s Utah, during the time known as the Utah War. It's pretty intense, but really good.

There are six episodes in this season (not sure if there will be more seasons). I watched four of them last night, and will finish the series up tonight.

Scarab Sages

Almost lunch time now. For me, at least. I'll have some turkey and rice for lunch. It'll be burgers for dinner.

Scarab Sages

First, I'm going to do just a bit of map work.

Scarab Sages

Happy Monday?!?

Scarab Sages

No. I don't think so. At least, not completely. More blah than happy, if anything.

Scarab Sages

The drive in was foggy and crowded. I caught some lights I normally don't catch, and made it through some I normally do catch. So the whole thing was fair to middlin.

Scarab Sages

And the ring finger on my left hand started bothering me yesterday. It joins the thumb on my right hand, which has been bothering me off and on for some time now.

Scarab Sages

Then I slept too much on my left side last night, which is causing some other kinds of pain. Plus I'm pretty sure I tweaked my neck at some point, and that's been bothering me more lately.

Scarab Sages

And I've got a busy week ahead of me. Plenty enough to do here at work. I've got a committee meeting for the scouts tonight. And we've got the usual troop meeting tomorrow. I'm trying to make an appointment with my primary care physician, but I might try to put that off until next week. I've got a dental cleaning on Friday morning, followed by two appointments at the cardiologist that afternoon.

Scarab Sages

I did manage to finish up American Primeval last night. Good series.

Scarab Sages

And my coworker Jim is back in the office after the surgery to remove his ruptured gallbladder. He actually came in last Friday, apparently. I look forward to seeing him again. He's a good dude.

Scarab Sages

It's Tuesday! I hope it's happy for someone.

Scarab Sages

My drive in was adequate, despite a few fools. I don't see a very busy day ahead of me, however. Nor do I see a very busy week. And, as has become the new normal, my physical ailments continue to suck the joy right out of life.

Scarab Sages

The best that can be said about a slow down here at work is that I have time to start taking more of the courses I need for my personal development hours. I'll need at least 15 of those to renew my Texas License.

Scarab Sages

Luckily, I don't need them just yet for Louisiana. Since this will be my first full year with the license, the PDH requirement is waived. And the license gets renewed every 2 years, so I technically don't need any until 2027, at which time I'll need 30 hours.

Scarab Sages

And, luckily again, the courses I take should apply to each state. So I can do fifteen hours' worth of courses and cover multiple states.

Scarab Sages

I already got started yesterday. I had enough tokens left over with the website I use to take a 1-hour ethics course. Pretty much every state requires ethics each year, typically one hour.

Scarab Sages

The bosses let someone go yesterday. He was a nice guy, though I didn't interact with him too much, since he was an electrical designer. Still, he seemed like a nice guy, and I hate to see that happen (since I've been there).

Scarab Sages

Speaking of bosses....

The big boss of our group has a birthday today. He's apparently freaking out a bit because he's hit the horrible age of....forty.

I'd give someone else's left arm to be that young again.

Scarab Sages

My wife suggested I get him a bottle of ibuprofen and some nose hair trimmers as a birthday gift. I don't really like him enough to even get him a gift he wouldn't like.

Scarab Sages

I did consider trying to find a cane or walker to stick in his office.

Scarab Sages

Happy Wednesday?!?
