We've got more nasty weather coming in sometime in the next day or so, though. I can tell by the way I feel.

Scarab Sages

Rainy weather seems to trigger some kind of allergies.

Scarab Sages

I never had these problems when I was younger. Stoopid getting old.

Scarab Sages

Dude that works in the Terminals group was in a bit earlier than normal. He was already in the kitchen getting coffee when I got here. I knew there was a reason I didn't like him. Couldn't even be bothered to turn on both coffee makers or fill their tanks up.

What a tool.

Scarab Sages

Hell, he didn't even fill up the tank for the coffee maker he used.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to make...something or other.

Scarab Sages

Well, yesterday was kind of interesting.

Scarab Sages

One of the managers got fired because he messed up on a contract and then blew off the CEO and one other higher up.

Scarab Sages

Then we had a training meeting to go over the new digital timecard system they're suddenly going to convert us to. It's far more complicated than we need, but I can understand why they're doing it.

When I got home, the wife wasn't feeling too well. So I had to bring our daughter to our son's school orchestra concert. I would've had to go anyway, since he needed to be picked up, but baby girl wanted to come along.

Scarab Sages

And knowing the area was supposed to be hit by really bad weather, the idiots that run the music program didn't cancel. Other more sensible folk cancelled their school stuff, but not the musicians.

So, of course, no one was surprised when they had to stop the concert midway and get everyone to shelter in the hallways because of the tornado watch. And then they cancelled the rest of the concert.

Scarab Sages

Which, to me, was a good thing. They had moved it from the cafeteria to the gym this year, and those bleachers are very, VERY crowded. For someone with long legs and a not-so-great back, it was torture.

Scarab Sages

The children and I waited until the rain slacked off a bit, then ran for the truck. Got a bit wet, but nothing too bad otherwise. The drive home was crowded, and we had to make it through one traffic light that was out, but it was otherwise uneventful.

Scarab Sages

They did end up closing all the schools in the district today. So the kids get to stay home, and I got to leave a bit early. Wasn't sure how the roads would be, but except for a brief slowdown behind a few idiots, it was pretty awesome. I made it to work in about 14 minutes.

Scarab Sages

My coworker Thomas was already here. He lives a good distance away, so always has a long drive. He said his drive in was a mess, with lights out and debris all over.

Scarab Sages

What's more, his neighborhood had a tornado touch down. He lost parts of his fence. One of his neighbors lost part of their roof. We both agreed it could have been a lot worse.

I'm glad it wasn't too bad. I like Thomas. He's originally from west Africa. Came over to the states about 20 years ago. He's really nice and is really good at his job.

I saw that one of the former Fawtly’s had some damage to her house fence from the storms here in Houston. Thankfully, she was unharmed.

Scarab Sages

And I’m finally getting a new computer at work. They’ve just got to tweak it a bit so it’s capturing everything from One Drive properly.

Scarab Sages

Of course, that might be due to One Drive not working properly on my old computer.

Scarab Sages

The new computer is smaller though. So less weight will be appreciated.

Scarab Sages

And I’ve come to realize my new phone has far better battery life than the previous one. So perhaps Apple finally got that correct.

The way I drive, that's almost true on occasion. As it is, the route I take to work is only about 11 miles. Half of that is a straight run to the interstate with just some lights in the way. The other half is about 90% interstate.

Even on a bad day it typically only takes me half an hour or less.

Scarab Sages

A very foggy morning today.

Scarab Sages

I'm debating giving the dog a bath this weekend. Ultimately, it depends on how much sun we're going to get.

Scarab Sages

As long as we don't get rain though, I'm going to get out front with the boy and do some yardwork.

Scarab Sages

Bushes don't trim themselves!

Scarab Sages

That's what she said.

Scarab Sages

What did the green grape say to the purple grape?

"Breath, damn you! Breathe!"

There's a youtube show I enjoy that comes on every Friday. It usually starts at 3 pm, when I'm still at work. So, typcially, I've waited until later on Friday evening or until Saturday morning, then watched it.

However, with my new earbuds, I started watching it at work. With just one bud in, I was able to do that and get some work in, but still be able to hear if someone spoke to me. I'd take the earbud out for the drive home, then put it back in once I got home.

I'm not sure if I want to keep doing that because (a) it's kind of nice to be able to pause the show whenever I want, and (b) now I don't have anything to watch.

Scarab Sages

Although I could fix (b) if I really wanted.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to get moving on my errands and such.

Scarab Sages

Mmmm…..afternoon coffee.

Scarab Sages

Good morning! Happy Sunday!

Scarab Sages

Since the wife and I have been re-watching Black Sails, I decided I wanted to re-read Treasure Island for the first time in decades. So on the way back from the comic book store, I stopped in at Barnes and Noble to buy the book.

Scarab Sages

At the same time I decided to buy a copy of The Catcher in the Rye, because it's the great American novel and everyone should own a copy.

Scarab Sages

Maybe I'll even re-read that one.

Scarab Sages

I also found myself hoping they'll make my kids read one or both of those books in school. Especially Catcher in the Rye.

Scarab Sages

Made some spicy wings for dinner last night. I've been doing that the last few Saturdays.

Scarab Sages

Then I had a beer and a half watching TV. Been doing that the last few Saturdays as well. Trying to build my alcohol tolerance back up.

Scarab Sages

Proud of my baby girl. She got some ribbons at her art show the other day.

Scarab Sages

Today I'm going to be smoking some turkey breasts for dinner. So in a little while I'll be putting them in the brine.

I'll also be doing some more laundry. And maybe trying to do a little yardwork outside. And I also want my family to get off their lazy butts and do some cleaning inside.

Scarab Sages

And at some point, I've got to scan this QR code from the scout troop to see what the list is for summer camp items to bring. I already know I've got to get the boy some water shoes. And he'll need to bring a cot, but he's already got one of those.

I went to the doctor to show him a suspicious looking mole. He said they all look that way and I should just put it back in the garden.

Scarab Sages

The traffic gods seemed reluctant to smile on me this morning. In fact, they seemed a bit hostile at first. I managed to help them change there minds.

Scarab Sages

So now I'm in the office, ready to start another glorious work week.

Scarab Sages

We've got a new mechanical engineer starting today. I don't know if he's going to be permanent or not.

Scarab Sages

And I get to leave a bit early, but only because I have my consultation appointment with the oral surgeon.

Scarab Sages

It's the kids' last week of school. They are, of course, thrilled.

Scarab Sages

My wife, not so much.
