Finally! Happy Birthday to my brother! The younger, fat one. He once posted on these message boards, many years ago.
Now I have to go enact my somewhat reckless plan to get rid of the wasp nest on my grill. I'm gonna need that thing later today.
Well.....that worked better than expected. The jet of water from the hose stunned the wasp long enough for me to grab one of my son's crocs and kill it.
Then I made sure to leave its crushed corpse on the grill's side table, as a warning to all other wasps not to f@#k with my damn grill.
Incidentally, my hatred for wasps stems from being mildly allergic to their stings.
I have my own term for them, but I'm 95% certain it would get me permanently banned from this message board if I used it.
Yes, I'm aware that would make some people happy, but....
....Not today Satan!
Anyway, now it's time to put some chicken in a bag to marinade.
Yesterday was a pretty decent day. The wife was happy, at least. And that's what was important.
I did, however, drop my phone once again. Further damaging the screen.
And while I was trying to ascertain the extent of the damage, I accidentally dialed 911, and couldn't hang up because of one of the cracks. The lady on the other end was very understanding, however.
The chicken I cooked on the grill was delicious. And we've got three whole breasts left over.
I did, however, have to destroy another burgeoning wasp nest in my grill. This time I stood well back and hit it with the hose. There was only one of the little turds, so when the water stunned it I quickly approached and used something to crush it.
Then I left its mangled corpse as a warning to other wasps who might consider trying to turn my grill into their home.
One must do these things properly.
Anyway, then the dog woke us up at 3:30 am with the poopy squirts. So the wife and I had the joy of cleaning that up.
After we cleaned up, I took her out in the backyard and she had more poopy squirts. So the wife volunteered to sleep on the sofa in case she needed to go out again.
Such exciting lives we lead.
Anyway, I'm working from home today. That'll make it easier to get to the dentist office and get my replacement crown.
Lots of fog this morning. And I started off my drive catching nearly every single light. It was almost like a Monday.
Found out yesterday we've got a new mechanical engineer starting here at work. Since they're still looking for a lead mechancial engineer, I'll assume this new guy is my eventual replacement.
So now I've got to start accelerating my hunt for a new job.
It's sad, but that's the way it goes. I really liked some of the people I worked with here. Not that it means anything.
If I've learned nothing else in my life, it's that friendship typically only goes one way. It can be a bit frustrating at times, but I'm getting more used to it as I get older.
My dentist yesterday recommended I not get a new crown. He said there's so little of the tooth left, it'll probably just break off again in another 2-3 years. So he suggested an oral surgeon to remove it.
Now I've got an appointment with the dude he recommended. It's not until the beginning of June, but they said if a spot opened up they'd give me a call.
Huzzah! Got a call yesterday from the special dentist office. They have an opening next Monday!
In other news, I continue to be unsurprised by the hypocrisy of the powers that be in these parts.
'Tis work from home Wednesday!
There's a good chance the wife and I will be going over to the T-Mobile store at lunch today. She wants a new phone. I need a new phone.
Before the beginning of the school year, I had dropped mine to the point the case had broken and been removed. Since that time, it's been dropped a few more times.
So now the screen is cracked. A lot. So much so that sometimes the touch screen aspect doesn't work. And the newest feature is that it will randomly open screens and try to do things.
So...green warrior needs phone badly.
My debate is what kind of phone to get. I've had a series of i-phones. The first one was just because. The succeeding ones have been more for convenience's sake. The data transfer from old to new phone was more reliable.
These days I'm getting sick of the iphone (for various reasons), so I'm considering a Samsung or something. My big problem will come with (a) data transfer will be annoying, (b) some stuff will be completely lost, and (c) without an i-phone I don't think I'd be able to video chat with my mother.
None of these problems are deal killers, but they would present a shift in habits. I dislike shifting my habits.
Though I do tend to quickly adapt to the new habits.
I'd dearly love to get one of those phones that fold open. The bigger screen might be good for my old man hands and old man eyes.
Habit, though, is one of those things that keeps me around this place. Pretty much the only thing, to be honest.

Fawtly has long since fallen from grace. I like to think of it as fake-FAWTLY now.
And there are a whole lot of angry young punks around who don't seem to like when other people have opinions that don't agree with theirs.
That's a large part of where the hypocrisy of the powers that be come into play.
And yet, I persist in my efforts here. Like I said....habit.
It helps that I don't have friends. Friends are....bullcrap. Most of them will eventually stab you in the back. If the price is right, so to speak.
I almost typed a cuss word, but I've been avoiding those lately. One less excuse for the powers that be to kick me off.
Anyway, onwards to tomorrow! Or, at least, the rest of today.

Surprisingly, the T-Mobile store didn’t have one of those folding phones in stock. So I just ended up settling for a new iPhone.
The only bummer part was the old phone’s screen being to jacked to do a proper port from old to new. So they had to go with my most recent cloud backup…..from December 2022.
So I lost a lot of recent texts. And had to download several apps again. And fix my screen to the way it was on the old phone. And fix my bookmarks in the browser.
I also lost a bunch of photos, but just went and transferred all the stuff from the old phone to my desktop.
The worst was my original Yahoo email address wouldn’t load and let me have access. Something about using security questions that I couldn’t recall exactly what the answer was. I probably could have gotten in with the assistance of Yahoo’s help phone line, if I had wanted to pay them.
Instead, I just switched the handful of accounts using that email to a newer email (one with better customer service). And I’ll just let the yahoo email address die a richly deserved death.
Most of my contacts loaded over, though. I only had to add a few by hand. This morning I had converted my phone contacts list to a csv (I think) file on my desktop, so I wasn’t too worried.
Next time I get a new phone, however, I want to plan it in advance. Order something I want and have to waiting for me at the store.
Good drive in this morning.
