A decent Friday (for me anyway) - the kids were fairly well-behaved. After lunch I took them to splash pad for a bit. Following that, baby girl watched Frozen upstairs, the boy watched Pokémon episodes on his Kindle, and I played a bit of Diablo III.
Family movie night consisted of the usual pizza dinner and the movie Sing (very entertaining). Once the kids were in bed, I finally started the wife on her first (my second) binge watching of the Daredevil series. It's the only one of the Netflix Marvel series she hasn't seen, and we've got to get ready for The Defenders.

Found out yesterday that some family friends, an elderly couple, had been viciously attacked in their home by a neighborhood teen. They are both in the hospital. The husband, who is 89 years old, is not doing well, last I heard. The wife, who is a good friend of my aunt, and once worked part time for my father, is in better condition, but still pretty messed up.
The little shitbag attacked them with a hammer, then stole their car. He wrecked it in Baton Rouge and was promptly arrested. So far, he's being charged with two counts of attempted murder, among other things.
What the f#$+ is wrong with people?

I am sorry to hear about your family friends. I hope they lock the SOB up for life.

Stoopid storm last night. It interrupted the last few minutes of the episode of Daredevil we were watching. It then kept the power going on and off for the next 20 minutes or so.
Do what I finally did. Get an UPS for your TV and cable box. I got mine so any power outages would not drop power to my X-Box 360 and X-Box One. The cable box and TV are also hooked up to it. But if you get one, get a higher capacity one. The more juice the better.

The wife finally convinced me to pick up the Necromancer class. I guess I will be binging some Diablo III this weekend on the X-Box One.
I like it. And I've already beaten the game with my Hardcore Necromancer. The only complaint I have so far is the lack of Legendary Scythes and Phylacteries that can be added to the craftsman's skill set.
Still, he's been a pretty lucky character so far. During the course of game play he found two Puzzle Rings.

I'm betting his lawyer will go with an insanity plea, since I've heard the kid is a few cans shy of a six-pack.
The husband (Mr. Phil) is, unfortunately, not doing well. So the chance that one of the "attempted murder" charges will be changed to "murder" is very much increasing. The wife (Mrs. Anita) is doing better at least. She nearly lost two fingers, but her head injury is not as severe.

Also, looks like I finally have a new job (pending what should be a successful round of drug testing). It's a company called Cokebusters. They do decoking and tube inspections. I'd be their Technical Manager.
It's not the job I was hoping for, but it's a job. And it doesn't pay nearly as much as my previous job, but it pays. And there seems to be some room for quick advancement in pay scale.

For the moment, however, there are biscuits in the oven and a fresh cup of coffee....somewhere.
Ummm, biscuits.
I recently began a diet, and ended up on the Keto plan, more or less. No carbs. like at all. (Any plan that allows and encourages me to eat meat I am all about!) :)
My mother sent me a recipe for coconut flour cheddar biscuits. I may be trying that out this weekend.

So, yesterday I decided to start clearing out old files. Since they needed to be destroyed in some way, and my own small shredder was probably not up to the task, I called a place to see about getting it done. This place wanted to charge me $100 to come to my house and destroy two printer paper boxes worth of files.
After that, I went over to Lowe's and bought a small, back-yard fire pit for $49. It may take a little longer to whittle down the collection of paper, but it'll be worth it to never have to spend money on a shredder again.

Hi, all. I had to drop because work life became the definition of suck. But I will say that a certain withdrawal ha enhanced my calm...
That was from 2015. I dropped off the face of the earth again. :(
Yeah, so in the spring of 2015, my place of employment started handing employee improvement plans to (only female!) employees - and then letting them go two weeks later. we went from 6 women in the depart to 2, and I and the other were definitely in the crosshairs. I was looking desperately for a new job, while refusing to throw my coworker under the bus. Eventually I was fired (no improvement plan, even!) for not doing another employee's job (no, really, they really told me that was the reason!). I continued interview processes for 3 different job opportunities I was pursuing, took in some newborn kittens, went on about 10 interviews, including some good, some catastrophic, and one programming test that was 4 hours long. Fought against my old company for unemployment, and won. I lost my Japanese cat Hikari, and when I was driving back from having her put down, got the offer I was waiting for. Started the new job, lost my maternal grandmother, got back from the funeral, lost my paternal grandfather.
In about five weeks.
Yeah.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger though, right?
