Reference: POI / Outpost

In addition to the blogs there have been many separate dev blog posts (and podcasts!)on the subjects of POI and Outposts.

Has anyone compiled that information into an easy to read/understand reference source? This info is very much needed to better coordinate WoT and settlement plans...

If not, can we create one here and submit it to the PFO wiki for inclusion?

Most of the good info we have is here

There's a little more detail on hex resource types is here

Discussion about renaming PoI to something else, probably "Holding": here

You also have this Dev Blog: On-We-Sweep-with-Threshing-Oar

It explains outpost raiding and the hostility system.

@ALL

Thanks for the links and information, I will soon read threw those blogs, the gob casts, PFO WIKI and the dev postings to get a better idea of what POI and Outposts have been mentioned (along with any related skills and hex terrains considerations) and post my findings here for comment.

To the above I will add as additional references:

Blog: Major Announcements: Start of Early Enrollment, New Explorer package, Premium Items

Blog: More Information about Premium Items

But first I need to better understand the Skill and Crafting system better, especially with regards to the settlement building related systems.

Hopefully today I can write about this topic so I can submit it to the PFO Wiki soon. :)

Good info to have compiled somewhere, thanks for your time in organizing it!

You are missing docks as swamp or river outpost.

Any outpost my be built in any terrain, but some will not yield much. I am not sure that mine works in swamp or river. THere are no current river hexes, but there are some west of EE start.
I had forgotten quarry.

There may be scattered lands at other elevations, e.g. "high" plains or low woodland, Earky maps showed mountainous woods, but that went away.

There may be other POI, such as a wizards tower or thieves refuge. Possibly aMarket. (I am thinking there will be one for FRWC, CEA and later for druid/ranger (forests glen) or Barb (permanent 'village'), etc (usw).

Goblin Squad Member

@lam,

I did not include docks because I can not find any reference to them.

The elevation of the hexes is from the "Rushing the land" blog.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm confused, how many base camps per hex? How many small holdings per hex?

Above it appears that there are more small holdings per hex vs more base camps per hex. That seems to be backwards above.

Goblin Squad Member

Base Camp

"In the Early Enrollment map there will be approximately 500 Hexes where a Base Camp can be erected. Players can erect up to 3 structures per wilderness Hex, a maximum of two of which can be Base Camps."

Smallholding limits I will confirm when I get back from work.

Goblin Squad Member

There are 3 player building slots per hex. Of those 3 slots, all can be filled with smallholds, but only 2 can be filled with base camps.

Goblin Squad Member

It seems they also take up the same slots as Outposts.

Why do you say that, doesn't the blog state its one of 3 player structure slot per hex?

Or just stand on the shore using a fishing rod? Water hexes all have some coastline, islands, or other surfaces in them so you can build a POI and Outposts like normal but building any Outposts aside from Docks is sort of a waste.

in forum discussion of Blog: Rushing the Blog.

Goblin Squad Member

@Lam,

I had not read that. Will do so tonight and update list, thanks!

Goblin Squad Member

I understand you can have a PoI (say, a Hunting Lodge) in a hex which gathers bulk goods, and can support a skill), and two additional structures called Outposts, which also gather bulk goods similar to the PoI, but cannot support any training (unless this has changed).

Again, as I understand this feature, these same spots (probably little circles on the map if viewed from overhead) can also support other structures, but I have not seen a decent list of all the things that might go in these same sites.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Goblin Squad Member

I believe the hunting lodge is an outpost not a POI (he will be adding Docks). There must be a POI before outposts can be built.
Giorgo has fairly complete lists of outposts above but it is less clear what the complete list of POI is.

To the best of my knowledge there is no list of POI/Outposts, and Tork is not available at this time to provide new information or confirm any of the above.

I will be adding "docks" in my next update.

Goblin Squad Member

Player Created Buildings and Structures mentions Forts.

After I get some clarification in its classification status from Tork (POI or Unslotted Building) I will update this list.

Goblin Squad Member

I had read this to mean that a fort is first step in building a settlement. As it gets bigger, more and larger buildings may be built inside.
