Evangelist the Cleric Archetype, or Evangelist the Prestige Class? Either way nothing more than a normal Ranger would suffer. None of their abilities are hampered by armor restrictions if your just going to be casting divine spells. You'll still have your armor and weapon proficiencies from being a Ranger.

Prestige Class from Gods of the Inner Sea.
So the Evangelist would not lose the dodge bonus?I'm a somewhat new pathfinder player;a ranger in heavy armor loses all sorts of abilities.
An Evangelist loses nothing in medium armor?

The evangelist's chosen deity rewards her with heightened awareness and reaction skills, making her more difficult to strike in combat. At 2nd level, the evangelist gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC.
This bonus increases to +2 at 7th level. The evangelist loses this bonus when she is denied her Dexterity bonus to AC.
The ranger is one of a few classes that only give you certain bonuses (in the ranger's case, bonus feats) if you wear a certain category of armor.
The evangelist doesn't have that limitation, so you would still get the full dodge bonus while wearing no, light, medium, or even heavy armor. Heavy armor would interfere with your bonus feats from Ranger, though.
