Interest Check: Homebrew Game

Recruitment

101 to 125 of 125 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

@Valeriya, that's correct. The Racial HP is only at first level. And after thinking about it. We will do Max HP for at least the first 3 levels. If we still need them after that, then we will continue at max hp. Otherwise, we will roll HP starting at level 4.

As there will be down-time at various points of the campaign, there will also be re-training. So, if after we begin you realize you want to do something differently with your character, just let me know and we will set-up for your retraining. I'll be pretty lax on the rules for this. Such as, allowing you to retrain feat-tax feats without losing the other feats in the progression.

Cool beans. Are we doing traits?

Oh yes, thanks, I forgot about traits (and also, thank you for the "gratz!" He is 2.5 months old now :D)

For traits- You can select any two non-campaign Paizo traits. They must appear either on Paizo's trait list, d20pfsrd, or Archives of Nethys. Please no 3rd party traits. You can also select a Drawback to pick up a third trait.

Hmm. Okay. remade a half-orc chain fighter. :) Though, her archetype is free-handed fighter, the chain is mostly for flavor. She's an ex-slave from Qadira. Planning to go combat maneuvery. :)

@Lexi- sadly, there is no Qadira. The best that I can suggest would be: Westwend. It is a mostly desolate land though with extremely few inhabitants (all nomadic). As there are no laws there, it is one of the few places that could have slavery present (Peaceful world). Also, not too far off from the starting location.

@Juan- Anton sounds interesting (the bland fighter comment was directed at Vixen XD). I have no problems with a "quaterling" flavor race and you choosing either half-elf or human for your racial qualities. James is out of town, but I'm sure he'd be okay with you guys knowing each other through the Drunken knight mentor.

@Jacob- You are right, as the town has around 2,000 inhabitants, it is very likely that you all would know each other. It is also possible for some characters to know only 1 person, or no one at all. I'll leave that for you all to discuss with each other. :)

@Magus- You must remember that the world is in a very peaceful state. Evil has been (almost) wiped out. There is nothing wrong with your backstory, but do note that it would be unlikely that some of his behavior (destructiveness) wouldn't be tolerated. There has been little need for adventurers due to the peaceful times and controlled lands. As such, Adventurering is not really a career path and militaries are more like glorified police forces. I won't reject your concept; however, just know your character would always be walking on a knife's edge.

With that, I hope I am caught up. Post again, or pm me if I missed/failed to answer your questions or concerns.

EDIT: I'm always forgetting something. Starting gold. Don't think I mentioned it. If I have, disregard whatever I said and use the MAX WEALTH BY CLASS for your class.

Sweet. All I'm really looking for is deserty with slaves, that fits. :) Sorry, forgot it had its own world map. Re-poking the dieties now too :)

Another possible idea. Oracle or White Nemcromancer of The Edimmu. Cursed with undeath to be a guide for lost souls though he doesn't know it yet.

I don't want to rain on your parade here but becoming undead is such an advantage that it's usually really difficult. Pathfinder doesn't have rules for players being Liches really because they removed the level adjustment rule. In 3.5, you got four levels for becoming a Lich and 8 for being a vampire.

Becoming a Lich in Pathfinder is described as "the exact methods for each spellcaster's transformation are left to the GM's discretion, but should involve expenditures of hundreds of thousands of gold pieces, numerous deadly adventures, and a large number of difficult skill checks over the course of months, years, or decades."

I'm not saying you're asking for that but those are the general rules that the game has. Being undead has some serious advantages. An undead-like state is the capstone of the Undead Sorcerer bloodline. And that's not even becoming fully undead which is OP for Sorcerers.

The point is that your character is really interesting but adding templates like undeath is so strong that everyone would have to have a template in order for things to be fair which would require all of us to change our characters.

I hope you don't see this has being rude or argumentative because I'm not trying to be. I just wanted to tell you my concerns about this character of yours.

@Jacob- Valeriya is very much correct. I don't mind allowing your character to undergo a transformation over time (finding all the pieces of various lore and such), but at the beginning it just isn't a feasible (or reasonable) starting point. Beyond the advantages, there is also the story (and this is going to be a very story dominated campaign). The world is currently in a peaceful state. There are little in ways of adventures and evil. With very little evil, there is very little undead. This relates to very secretive and carefully hidden lore. Lore that would take extreme amounts of research to recreate or to uncover. Yes, some of it can be stumbled upon. Some of it can go awry (as you have suggested for your character), Yes.

As I hinted about with the Goblin concerns (Magus's character, Boomlord), if your character strays or some form of "evil" (rather real or not) surfaces, then there will be consequences.

I get everything you're saying and I can change the concept around to fit the game but there is a significant difference between a Lich and a Skeleton. I realize now I said Lich in error because it was the only sentient undead I could think of at the time but what I meant was a skeleton with a brain.

You are correct that Lich's are incredibly powerful and in pathfinder they raise the CR by 2. The skeleton template does not. Sure I get a significant number of defensive goodies but I die at 0 hit points. For a level 1 character that is dangerous. Lich's at least have a way of returning. I do not.

I am also not trying to make myself OP, being a wizard does that anyway. And I don't plan on using my undeath to my benefit in game like walking through a cloud of poison because I don't breath or staying up all night on watch because I don't sleep. I am going to act like everyone else because I am trying to hide this fact about me. We could even go so far as to say I would subconsciously react negatively to attacks that wouldn't normally harm me like sleep and paralysis. It could be more like I was cursed with a permanent disguise self to look like a skeleton.

Ultimately it is up to the DM but if other people have a problem I'll go back to a young lad with high ambitions.

*edit didn't see the DM's post before I posted this. I'll make the necessary changes.

I'm really sorry. I assumed you meant a Lich because they keep all their spells and it's thematic to what your character wants. I really shouldn't have done that.

If possible ,I'd like to try to get everyone's characters by the end of Monday July 7th. I know James will be lagging a bit as he is on a work-related trip until then.

We can try to pick up starting the campaign on July 8th (Tuesday) if everything is ready.

Yay for almost starting! Hope we get a divine caster. I don't want to heal or pay for a wand of CLW. I mean, I will if I have to but I'd prefer not to.

If no one plays one, I can run a DM-PC heal bot. No worries. Though they won't be incredibly useful the majority of the time.

*poke* Heal me! *poke* Heal me! *poke* Heal me!

still missing characters into the enveloping mist site!

yeah, James will probably post his come monday or tuesday. I know Vixen got caught up with RL stuff so she is on hold. I am not sure if Magus is still working on his goblin to convert over to forums or not. Also, unsure on the status of Lexi's character.

As for the others, I am not sure if they have dropped out or not. Still waiting to hear back (unless I missed them somehow).

I posted on the other forums my background. Take a look. Once I get the crunch done I will be set.

Wasn't sure where / when to make an alias. :)

Most people have been adding stuff to the other forums. If you want to make your alias here, that is fine. We can always copy it over quite easily. Most bbc codes are the same there (except dice doe snot need the /dice comment).

Good story Vixen, btw!

Thanks. I had a lot of fun making it.

Closing recruitment (tentatively). Game is starting soon. Those that had post interest, but have not put up your characters may still do so now.

As I have 6 characters currently in play, I'll still take up to 2 more (minus whomever showed previous interest but hasn't checked in with a character just yet).

PM me any questions or you can still post here.

Character/Player List:
Anton The Quarter- Juan
Jacob Romero
Talnok- Vixen
Thurm Brightblade- James
Valeriya
Alane-Lexibean

Edit: Added Lexi to the list. Updated Player Count. :)

Oh gosh, sorry. I keep making things and tinkering with characters and then forgetting to post them. Will have some stuff to post now on the other forum.

No worries. The first little bit of the campaign is going to be checking-in and getting character's daily lives established. Then I'll start progressing the story from there. Probably not until Thursday or Friday this week or starting Monday. I tend to not post much if any on weekends (though I will check in and read new posts usually).

Background coming as soon as I tweak her a bit more. :)
