*Sombra |
"We have recovered your possessions including your Wayfinder. You asked if we killed "Tulok"; what or who is Tulok? We killed a troglodyte in the other room. Perhaps some of my stronger friends can drag what's left of his corpse in here for you to indentify? How many other troglodytes were here when you were first captured? I believe we've killed six of them so far."
GM Mauve |
The Pathfinder jingles his manacles. "If you could remove these, I may be able to help.". He lets out a sigh. "Tulok was my captor - the one right outside. Tulok would beat me and starve me. I believe he had the key to these manacles too. If you say you killed him, I'm eternally grateful. Beyond him, I'm unsure how many more of them there were."
*Sombra |
"Oh the troglodyte in the other room is dead. You can see for yourself when you're free from the manacles. We appreciate any help you can provide us in punishing those who were torturing you."
*Sombra |
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
"I don't think he means music just for entertainment; from his description I think he's talking about bardic music and performance. If that's the case we could certainly use your help!"
Orla Durluwond |
Orla smiles at the bard and says softly, "I play the flute," and gives him a smile. She then prepares to follow the group.
Evelyn Kellbor |
I'm Evelyn Kellbor. I know it would be more polite to leave everyone give his or her own name, but troglodytes arent very keen on politeness and social decorum, in fact they never even introduced themselves before trying to eat us, would you believe it!? So time might be essential here, and without further ado here's Orla, Sombra, Kelleran, Ken Ichi and Petro.
Evelyn points at each of her companions when reciting their names.
All these names might be much information in one bit, but we took care to be very distinctive from each other for your convenience. Lucky you! Now we must conclude this exploration, by invading the northen part of the tower, kill every troglodyte in sight and grab the loot. Do you need a weapon? We found a magnificent rapier just moments ago.
Petro Rendell |
Well, we sold it off already...got a pretty copper for it too.. Petro says with a smile. Sorry...thought a joke might help lighten things a bit. Yes, we found your kit. You'll make a fine addition to our intrepid team.
Ken'ichi |
Ken'ichi bows politely when Evelyn introduces the bard to the group. "You must be very brave to venture into such a place all by yourself."
*Sombra |
"With your help we should be able to leave it empty of troglodytes. There's a shocker lizard looking for food that doesn't have to die. Follow us, we're going back two rooms and to a door we haven't tried yet."
Back to room 9 and to check the NE door for traps and locks.
GM Mauve |
Evelyn approaches the door. Examining it, the swashbuckler finds no traps. But a small puddle of water pools at her feet. Inch by inch, she opens it.
"Ribbit.". Cracks in the walls and ceilings of this chamber have allowed rainwater to collect here, flooding the room and giving rise to a profusion of mold and fungus along the walls and ceiling. In the middle of the room, in ankle-deep water, a giant frog lurks. It immediately sees Evelyn and lurches in for an attack!

Sombra calls upon arcane energy to fire a jet of acid at the giant frog.
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d3 ⇒ 1
Orla Durluwond |
Orla moves in next to Petro to get line of sight on the frog and her eyes gloss over in blackness as she unleashes a moonbeam at the frog.
Moonbeam vs touch AC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
On a successful hit, Fort Save DC 15 or blinded for one round
Ken'ichi |
Ken'ichi once more draws his sword as he walks into the room, settling into a defensive stance to away the frog's attack.
Total Defense
GM Mauve |
Two nat 1's! You guys aren't rolling well at all.
Both Sombra and Orla attempt to fling some magics towards the frog, but light reflecting off the water seems to affect their aim.
Petro moves in, his boots soaked full of water. Ken'ichi follows and stands nearby.

The frog's long tongue lashes out at Ken'ichi. Unfortunately, it's tongue wraps around the tengu's leg and pulls him closer. 17 vs touch AC. Ken'ichi is now grappled.. It ribbits in Ken'ichi's face, ready to eat him.

Evelyn enters the room, and her rapier sinks into the bloated croaker's flesh
To me, my crew! Send us a song, musician! This beast needs a marshing tune, ahah!
Kelleran Storm |
Kelleran steps forward to see what all the fuss is about. That's huge! It could swallow Orla whole! He levels the only useful weapon he has and fires. The magic bolt streaks around the others before slamming into the large anphibian.
Wand of MM: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
GM Mauve |
Evelyn moves up right next to the frog. With her rapier, she stabs several small holes into its side. Blood leaks into the water as it screams out in pain. Ken'ichi feels its tongue tight its grip.
As Kelleran shoots a few missiles towards it, the frog screams out in pain even more.

*Sombra |
Sombra snickers as Petro is covered in frog goo.
"At least we'll have frog legs for dinner when we're done with the rest of the dungeon. And at that size it should be enough for everyone. Time to search and see if there are any doors or treasure. Icky!"
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
GM Mauve |
The room is quite waterlogged. Looks like this room used to be a study or a library at one point. The mold and fungus on the walls are fairly harmless - as long as you don't eat them! Under a crumbling table, Sombra finds a small jade statue of an angelic being. He estimates it could be worth upwards of 500 gp!

Petro or Sombra found it?
Ken'ichi |
Ken'ichi seems just a bit stunned by the quick exchange, but gratefully takes Petro's hand. "I am well, thank you. Only my pride is bruised, but that has been a long time in healing." He manages to give the cleric a mild smile, then finally sheathes the weapon that never had to be used. "How would such a creature get up here?"
GM Mauve |
Bardic Knowledge, nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
"That... that was a giant frog. Known for their giant tongues. And can eat you whole. Tulok threatened to feed me to it... but I never saw the frog the whole time I've been in here."
The last remaining room on this floor is empty. One more floor left! Will update in the morning if you guys want to go explore it.
*Sombra |
Of course we want to explore the final floor! Plus we have a room with a bat swarm waiting downstairs. And a shocker lizard running around somewhere. We'll have our intrepid skills expert search for traps and such on our to and up the stairwell.
GM Mauve |
Last floor hype!
The Pathfinders decide to head up to the top floor. The four wings of the tower are completely open on this level, forming one great, cross-shaped chamber with arched ceilings. The decayed remnants of a carpet run from the doorways at the end of each wing, meeting in the center. A large, throne-like chair stands in the middle of the eastern wing next to a big chest.
The ceiling is about 20 feet high and it is dimly lit in here by the daylight shining through the archways (20% miss chance for those without darkvision). Standing in the eastern archway, gazing longingly at the city in the distance, a troglodyte stands. Next to him, a stunted cave crocodile stands.

Balenar will start singing a battle hymn. His music fills the air. All allies gain +1 morale bonus on saves vs charm affects and +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage.
The troglodyte turns around and laughs!
"Begone fools. You will surely perish in this fight. You stand no chance against me and Snapjaw here."

*Sombra |
Ken'ichi: Roll to confirm that critical. :)
To GM Mauve: Could the spellcasters have had time for buff spells while climbing the stairwell to the last level? I was expecting more doors or something before the last fight.
