Additional Resources that should be rethought

It gets worse when you start to add in a few caster level boosts like the Blazing Robe or Spell Specialisation.

It still isn't as effective as hyped up battlefield control with persistent or dazing spell.

If I did my math right, and assuming we're looking at that same Orc/Draconic dip and Empower Spell, you would need to be about CL 11 to average 90 damage. I'm curious how you did that.

8th level caster.

Orange Ioun stone for +1 CL
Varisian Tattoo for another +1 CL
Spell Specialization for +2 CL
Blazing Robe (11K GP) for +1 CL

Edit: The Ioun stone is about 30K gp.

Note: This is speculation...

This wizards caster level is base 7, 8 for evocations and 10 for Fireball. He can cast Empowered Fireball out of level 3 spell slots. The spell deals 1.5*(10d6+30) for an average of 97 damage per spell.
