Proving why you shouldn't listen to the knee-jerk "worst dm everz kill the tyrant" crowd and jump to conclusions on the DM w/o getting the full picture. Your name would imply you DM so try to remember the earlier days of DMing when you didn't know all the rules and had to do stuff on the fly.

Id give him advice regarding this thread such as: its perfectly ok to modify monster stat blocks as long as you're consistent on it (the same monster doesn't sporadically change stats from clerical errors) and as long as you know what you're doing and don't add something that turns a cr 2 monster into cr 20 that tpks the group.

He needs to decide his style. Most players don't line super heavy railroading. Some is usually ok but really heavy stuff will likely peev the modern Player. Remember you're propelling and inspiring a story not writing it. You put foward things with no idea how the main characters will get through it. You've placed the deathstar palpatine and vader. Its up to luke and gang to figure out the ending, not for you to write it. Sometimes the really cool ideas you have you just have to let go when the story moves elsewhere. Its hard but it happens.

Ask the rule on something to a player you trust. That and don't kill game momentum. Have someone look up a rule while you move on.

Have your houserules written somewhere so they are clearly defined.

You are the final aribiter. When you make a decision you're confident with, stick with it and move one regardless of whining or tantrums. Firm but fair. You can always revisit it later but don't kill the game with a 20 minute argument on AoOs in water or some silly crap. You will have to make judgment calls pretty often. Comes with the job.

I could go on but those are the biggies id say from being in this thread

That might sound plausible, but a much more likely situation is that you've successfully replaced him with a simulacrum under your control. 'Suddenly reasonable DM' indeed! How stupid do you think we are?

Well played, my friend, well played....!

I will not be taking your obvious inflammatory bait.

Such sagely advice.
