Incorporeal + sonic attack from within object? & question about an edimmu

Hi,

I'm running an encounter that features some edimmus.

First of all, could an edimmu (or other incorporeal, like a ghost) use a sonic-based attack effectively while within a wall/other solid object? Both the ghost and the edimmu have sonic fear effects/attacks; is it legal/feasible to have the incorporeal undead be within a solid object, while adjacent to one side of it (as per incorporeal), and still use its 'moan' ability, or would the solid object block the sound of the moan from escaping?

Secondly, I understand the edimmu on the d20pfsrd is a conversion, so it's probably not 100% complete, but under the edimmu's moan ability, there is no duration listed for the shaken condition. Does anyone know what the value should be, whether from a previous edition/incarnation, or just in terms of a good 'game balance' thing? I'm leaning towards 1d4 rounds.
