A collective term for cards / powers

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Is there any collective word that covers both cards and powers? Having to write "cards/powers" everywhere is a minor annoyanace!

E.g. ...If you have a XXX that lets you evade the card you're encountering...

Liberty's Edge

Fluffernutter?

Um... thanks?

"If you have something" sounds good to me. ^_^

Effect? (It's not actually a collective term, but it might work as a substitute to convey what you're meaning).

Here are some words that might fit the bill (not sure if any of them would be a good fit though)

talent, ability, virtue, capability, capacity, endowment, potentiality, force

It's tough really... ideally we'd want a word that incorporated the meaning of a possession (like an item, weapon or armor), the concept of an ability (like a power), the idea of having knowledge (spells), the idea of help from friends (allies) or from the gods (blessings).

There may not even be a word like this in the English language. Maybe "powers" should have been called "talents", then the word "power" could have been used for this.

You can usually just say "Power", since most of the things you care about are in "Powers" blocks on cards.

Thanks, Chad - I might well do that from now on until somebody complains.

The alternative is to start using a new term:

"Capow"

"...during the blah blah you can play Capows that blah blah..."

And see if it catches on ;)
