I've just managed to complete the second adventure using just one character (Amiri), although I failed a few attempts. Some of the enemies seemed quite brutal with just one character - the Skinsaw man, for example has his difficulty necessarily increased by 1d4, plus by the time you fight him, you've picked up two haunts which effectively increase it by another two.
I concede I'm not particularly good at games, nonetheless it seems like a definite increase in diffiuclty to me and I wonder if it's actually supposed to be possible to get all the way through with just one character or whether it's ultimately going to become mathematically impossible?

Don't forget that your character will improve over time. Better boons, weapons, items, etc. New Feats, skill increases, powers, etc.
If the game has been designed / balanced correctly, then there is no reason why the difficulty of the game isn't offset by the improvement of your character as new Adventure Decks are released.
If you can beat the game now, then there should be a good chance that you will continue to do so. Or die trying :)

Cheers. I appreciate I'm getting better equipped (and inherently better as I level up) - although I have since abandoned the 'lose everything when you die' rule, since it was beginning to annoy me.
It just seemed to me that the odd impenetrable barrier isn't such a big deal (I've had that before where a scenario was impossible to overcome given my character and deck) but if it's a villain who is impenetrable, then the whole thing is moot.
Glad to hear that everyone can technically finish the Adventure. That means if I fail, it's my own fault. :)

During the original play test I was able to play Ezren solo through chapters 5 and 6 once I had the proper cards in his deck. Higher damage output arcane spells were a must. Much of the later game loot also works well for an arcane caster.
It was difficult at times but I think it is very possible to defeat the game solo with a single character.
