With all the threads about broken (ala overwhelmingly/game-breaking/not fair/CoDzilla/Wizards) class/feats/spells/etc., I decided to create a thread for folks who:
1) Don't think the class/feat/spell/etc. really breaks the game.
or
2) Thinks Paizo did a great job in balancing the linear classes versus the quadratic classes.
or
3) Thinks Paizo did a great job in moving forward with the SRD with such systems as CMD, standardizing BAB with HD progression, skill points etc. while maintaining backwards compatible with 3.x materials.
or
4) Preferably all of the above. ;-)
Anyone else enjoying the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game system RAW (mostly)?

You want all those discussed in one thread at one time?
edit: I completely misread the post the first time around. oops. I guess even demi-liches can be wrong sometimes.

The main reason I have house ruled stuff is that I miss some of the 3.5 stuff. Particularly the extra Monster Manuals and the Fiend Folio. Still I LOVE PF. I think it is a wonderful and elegent evolution to the game.
+1. We've houseruled stuff from the Beta playtest (e.g. racial hitpoints) but overall the ruleset's been, as you said, an nice evolution.

After I bought the core rulebook, I stopped using 3.5 (I was that impressed with the new system). I still think my wizard should fly at level 15, possess more at-will abilities, and so on (who needs balance?). While I was still using 3.5, I had more than 20 active house-rules (not counting the things I intentionally ignored). Thankfully, that's no longer the case; minor issues are now cleared up in a few seconds (undead creation, spellbook space, etc).
Paizo has kept tabletop gaming interesting, thanks guys.

I love this thread, I only house rule stuff becouse I want to add it in not becouse I think something is broken,
Ditto. Same with removing them. I've removed the monk in some campaigns not because it was overwhelming or anything, but didn't fit the campaign theme. Same with my (short-lived) Eberron game where no one could play a dwarf or elf because they all vanished.

I think Pathfinder is a wonderful system. Most of my friends refer to it as DnD 3.75 or "what 3.5 should have been".
That being said, no game system is perfect and can't possibly cover all questions/problems, etc. While it would be nice to have a "perfect" little gaming world where everything was covered and spelled out, where every class was "balanced" to EVERYONE'S satisfaction, it is my sad duty to inform everyone that IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!
Thus, it is entirely appropriate that gaming groups have house rules to maintain some sense of order.
I think the root of most peoples concept of "broken" stems from the desire/need for everyone to somehow be equal. Real life teaches us otherwise, as it plainly becomes evident after a modicum of life experience that there will always be someone faster,stronger,smarter, better looking, richer, etc than we are. The best thing we can do in life or gaming is to fiind our own niche and strive to do our personal best.(And try to enjoy ourselves in the process)
Sorry, I was feeling a tad philosophical there. Kudos to Paizo for making a great game!

My only house rules:
Ride
====
If a creature has been trained to be a mount, then the Armor Check Penalty only applies to rolls made on the following tasks: Cover, Soft Fall, Leap, Fast Mount or Dismount. The Armor Check Penalty applies to all rolls made while mounted upon an animal that is not trained to be a mount.
Detect Magic
============
This spell is a 1st level spell. It is also not clear exactly how Detect Magic and illusions interact. Does Detect Magic detect the illusion? Or is part of the illusion the lack of a magical aura? For our game, Detect Magic only detects the magical aura of an illusion that is already known to be an illusion. If cast on an illusion that has not been quantified as such, it won't automatically detect the magic but it does count as interacting with it for purposes of exposing it as such.

I occasionally raise concerns about a feat or spell that could be, in my opinion, troublesome, or I'm curious about a choose of the designer and discuss it.
Nevertheless, I DO THINK that Pathfinder is a great system and I love it. Why the two things cannot exist at the same time?
Said this, I houserule almost nothing now. Just little not relevant details about when a spell or maneuver can work, and just to increase the fun.
My players jumped happily in the game.. I have 10 of them now!

I explain: there are people I didn't play with anymore that tried other systems and wasn't satysfied. We enjoy to play together, but the game actually called people back.

I am a system mechanic at heart, so tinkering is part of what I *do* when gaming.
That aside, here's my list of things done well/not broken:
1) CMB/CMD - pretty elegant way to attempt a unification of the crazy nuttiness of the maneuvers previously.
2) "No Empty Level" class design paradigm - brilliant! It makes EVERY level worth taking
3) Capstones - I LOVE capstones (not all are equal, but it's a darn nice idea)
4) Interesting feats - I'll leave it there as there really are too many to list. However, as a whole I like the additional/new things brought to feats they created/added/whatever.
5) Backwards Compatible - it's not 100%, but honestly the revision is minimal where it counts. This is a good thing, IMO. {of course, I'm a system-mechanic, though, so whatever ... }
6)APG Archetypes - this is AWESOME SAUCE!!! not every one is a home run, but man - GREAT idea for implementing options for "commonly" encountered roles from various sources.
7) Skills - LOVE the condensing of skills, AND the class/non-class adjustment. SO much better.
8) Favored Class bonus options - awesome for both customization and granting options in the first place, AND awesome for just being a cool idea.
9) Traits - just fantastic.
10) Toning down the save or suck/die spells, while also granting a *little* something for the spell in effect of an otherwise successful save (not for all spells, mind you - but a good compromise).
There is a LOT I like about it ... really, they did a bang-up job with it.
Thanks, Paizo!
