help me name my weapon!

Advice

so, in the campaign I´m playing, we got a +2 fey bane bardiche that my dragon disciple is currently using. and since its a powerful weapon with some story behind (I dont wanna let some spoilers out, so I wont tell more) I thouoght that it deserves to have a name, but I´m kinda stuck, I don´t wanna name it "feycleaver/feyslayer/feychopper" or something like that, so I´m taking suggestions from you people :)

Frontier reaper?

Liberty's Edge

Grasscutter ;-)))

Ironclaw

Badstick (for use against the "good people")

Cruel Death (for the "kindly ones")

Eternal Death

Though some weapons are named upon being created, most don't earn a name until after their wielder accomplishes some great deed with it, so not knowing a back story will hinder attempts to give it a worthy name.

Lantern Lodge

Cuup has a good point, the best way to name a weapon is through the acts performed with it.

However, needing to try anyway we can break it down based on the name of the weapon and give some attempts.

Since the weapon is Fey bane we can assume it will be used to kill fey and that we can incorporate this into the name. Obviously we don't want something as simple as putting fey in front of an attack word.

Similarly by having it be a bardiche we can establish a basis for titles as well, obviously nothing as simple as the damage type, but that does have an influence. Instead we should work with the type of people who would use a bardiche, like a palace guard, or perhaps an executioner.

After that we also should keep in mind this is a +2 weapon, and should be named appropriately, not some simple +1 name like Sting or Slasher, but not some high grandois name like Godhammer or something.

As such I would suggest perhaps:
The Death of Puck (Puck being a fairly well none Fey, it would be best to replace this name with something more particular to your campaign, I was going to put in Oberon, the fairy king, but that's a little too much for a +2 weapon)
The Bar of the First Gate (reference to guarding against the first world)
The Watcher of the Old Wood (Similar to above)
The Tricksters Just Reward (Reference to execution and the criminal tendancies of the fey)

I could go on but I think that gets my idea across.

nice!! you gave something to start. i wanted to include some reference to the winter/unseelie court (since we seem to be about to face evil fey) but I´m also stuck there

Liberty's Edge

Spring's First Breeze :-)

Spring breaker

HA!

"Vecte Ferreo", the Iron Lever
"Ferri ad Mortem", the Iron Death (and looks like "faeri/fairy")
"Frigidum Ferrum", Cold Iron
"Nix et Ferrum", Snow and Steel
Google Translate is a favored tool for this sort of thing.

"bane of the first world" (first world=fey); I'm not feeling terribly creative unfortunately.

Lantern Lodge

Ooo, I like the "adjournment" one, maybe spice it up with some "Winter's Adjournment"

Going with other winter/spring ones is good as well, "spring breaker" is interesting, but has obvious issues, which make it more fun in a way.
Maybe:
"Summer Moon" (summer to counter winter, moon represencing the shape of the blade, "Spring moon" or even "Winter Moon" may be more apropos but I sort of like the sound of summer)
"Snow Fall" (something of a pun if you're killing winter fey beneath a falling axe. Although it does make it sound like it has a cold enchantment.)

Winter's Wane

Insult plus threat: Fairy Composter.

Zahir is a name with an incredible amount of manhood and strength behind it. Jothan is also very storied and worthy.

Progress

i love how zahir posted two names from his own name xD

anyway, i went running with a few of the names i saw above that i liked, and translated a few. my favorites are:

zima y'luna (ZEE-mah E-loo-nah): which would be WinterMoon pronounced in russian

Hriveithil (hIR-ive-thEEL): the same as above in Tolkein Elvish *i like this one, as it has ties to other fantasy worlds, and sound EPIC*

Vskihyi (Vish-Kee-hee): Cherokee name for the December full moon.

Npchamani (nep-cham-ah-ni): Old Norse name for the same moon.

my favorites of the four being Hriveithil and Vskihyi, but its not for me to decide xD
