Porphyra is the campaign setting of Purple Duck Games. It has been in development in one form or another since Legendary I: Legendary Blades back in 2010. Almost every Pathfinder compatible product we have released has tied into Porphyra (unofficially) in some way while others are more oblique in their connections like:
- Gods of Porphyra
- Heroes of the Fenian Triarchy
- Elemental Lords of Porphyra
You can download our world map here.
The Campaign Setting - Lands of Porphyra is the next big, big project that Perry is hoping to complete.

I've enjoyed the levels of your Purple Mountain megadungeon as they've been released and I'm looking forward to the Monster Book. Could you give us a brief overview of: How many monsters are in the book? How many templates? If you can, can you give us the monster CRs? Finally, will you be posting a sample monster or two to give us a sense of what kinds of monsters are in the book? Thanks.
Purple Duck Games |
Thanks for your interest Tzzarg.
- There are over 120 monsters in the book including 14 templates.
- Monster CRs range from CR 1/4 to CR 25.
- Most of the monsters were selected by the patrons of the original Monster Update Subscription.
- I've created a link to the stillfiend and woodsong. Perry is still doing the final, final edit so they are not 100% finished yet but they are very close to their final form.

Perry Fehr |
Hi there, my name is Perry Fehr and I hold the title of Least-Beaten
Slave-Troll here at Purple Duck Games. I have been developing the Lands of Porphyra project for the last year or so, and our little maroon-tinged
world is progressing nicely. I have also been editing and writing some
of the material for Monsters of Porphyra, with an eye to tying in these
fearsome beasties.
I think Lands of Porphyra will be a unique, fascinating take on
fantasy roleplaying, and I encourage many, many people to check
it out.
If anyone has questions -even suggestions- about The Patchwork
Planet of Porphyra, I will check this thread regularly and respond
the best I am able.
By the Twenty-Seven and the Four, it shall be done...

I followed the link and looked around, and I have a couple of questions, if you're willing.
I'm unfamiliar with Patreon; would I be charged as you complete each beast as you move along or all at once when the project is completed? Also, is there a "goal" number that you are shooting for, or is the project moving forward regardless?
Very tempted by the $5 per template/monster reward level! (All PD products for term of patronage) Thanks for indulging my curiosity!

I'm always willing to answer questions Readerbreeder.
- People that are supporters of paetron are charged once a month. You are charged per item produced. It keeps a tab as the month goes on.
- So far I've posted 5 pieces of content this month. My goal is 5-8 monsters per month.
- For Monsters of Porphyra II to be the same size as the first release we would need to do at least 120 monster by the end of the project.
- I believe you can join a patreon or leave it any time.
- You can also set a maximum pledge amount/month.

The print file was not accepted at Amazon or DTRPG. I need to rework the files to get them to be accepted. With Amazon that will be relaying out 196 pages which may not happen if I don't get some time off work.
I reloaded to DTRPG yesterday and the file says... "Title in Premedia
S1 - 1013 - Product in Premedia" which usually takes a couple of days. Then I need to order a print proof which will take roughly a month to get here. If the print proof arrives and all looks good, it may be available starting in March. It will also go into distribution in May.
That is where we are today and my week off is over because we had a number of set-backs on other projects.
(As PDG is part-time for me; week off=full-time PDG)
